11  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Bruce on canvas on: December 16, 2007 08:37:25 AM
My husband is a big Bruce Lee fan so for Christmas I thought I would try painting him a pic of Bruce. I have never painted anything before so I didn't know what the outcome was gonna be.

I started by drawing the face in pencil and then I painted over that. I liked the way it looked in pencil better. Once I started to paint the lines lost all their crispness. Anyway since it didn't come out like I wanted I gave it to my husband early. He knew who it was right away so I guess thats a good thing. I wish the eye lines had stayed crisp oh well. I just finished him so hes still wet. Here he is...

12  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Give me your crockpot / slow cooker recipes...Please on: December 11, 2007 07:32:14 AM
A few weeks ago I bought a crock pot for those days when I am really too lazy to cook. I like the fact that I can just toss everything in even when frozen and have a meal at the end of the day with very little work and and even less dirty pots and pans.  Wink I have made chili, chicken stew, and BBQ Beef in it so far but thats is as far as my ideas go.  Huh So what do you put in your crock pot?

20  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / My Witch Kitchen Jars Now With Tutorial & Lots of Pics! on: September 21, 2007 04:14:17 PM
I have been working on these jars for a few weeks now. It is hard finding things to put in them that look real and spooky. I have not finished yet but here are the ones that i have done so far. I plan on making a shelf and putting them in the kitchen

Tutorial  Tutorial  Tutorial  Tutorial  Tutorial  Tutorial  Tutorial

Step 1 Design and print out your labels. I use word you can use what you like.

Step 2 Boil some water and soak some tea bags on a cookie sheet. The stronger the tea water the darker the paper. You may use coffee in place of tea for this. Wear geats so you dont stain your fingers

Step 3 Place your printed label sheet in the staining water. Ball up the paper and give it some texture.

Step 4 Place somewhere to dry I use a cookie sheet. You can let it air dry or blow dry or do like me and place it in the oven for a few minutes

Step 5 Apply a gloss

Step 6 Allow gloss to dry or if you are like me you can get out the old school 1980s crafty blowdryer  Smiley

Step 7 Once dry cut out labels

Step 8 Apply double sided tape to the back of labels you may also use glue.

Step 9 Apply label to the bottle

10 Spray paint or use whatever kind of black paint you have to pain the lids black

11 Add finishing touches like twine and whatever you want to fill the jar with ( i have not filled these yet) once the lids are dry put them on the jars and ta da there you go Witch Kitchen Jars!
