11  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / candystriper! my very very first real mini "skein" !! on: January 17, 2007 03:44:11 PM
yay!  so with my very first skein, i decided to get a little fancy and try my hand at plying.  i decided not to dye the natural wool color because it was such a pretty color anyway, but i did ply it with some cotton (the brand is sinfonia).  it reminds me of a candystriper Smiley

please let me know what you think!  this is just a little bit over 7 yards...not really much to do anything with, but i love it anyway Smiley  *hugs her yarn*
sorry for the weird...slightly dark picture.  my good digi cam has no battery power right now Sad
12  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / dye, then set? or set, then dye? on: January 14, 2007 11:07:46 PM
forgive me if this is covered somewhere....and this may seem like a total noob question (mostly because it is.....) but should i set my yarn before i dye it?  or the other way around?  common sense tells me to set it first....but if it would get set while soaking in the hot colored water instead of setting it, then putting it in hot colored water....i could eliminate a step, ya know?

thanks in advance!

made from under one skein of koigu kppm in color #503

15  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / fluffy goodness (or 'my first FO in forever') on: May 19, 2006 09:22:30 AM
i like to start things and put them down and forget about them.  or stare at them.  or stick my tongue out at them...

this project i finished in just a few hours and i'm pleased with the outcome.  i guess i'm one of those instant gratification knitters.  out of all my wips that i wish i could get motivated to finish......i start a brand new project and get it done in no time flat.

this pattern is from 25 bags to knit and the yarn is some yarn bee stuff i got from hobby lobby because it was soft and the colors were interesting.  i normally don't like eyelash or fun fur or whatever its considered.  i really like this purse though n__n

18  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / phone clutch on: September 09, 2005 04:02:11 PM
hi all!  i designed this cute felted phone clutch.  what do you all think?  its not quite finished, seeing as i need to add a snap piece to keep the phone from falling out the top, but i couldn't wait to show it off Cheesy  i love this because its big enough for your phone, your id, and a credit card or some cash.  there is also an i-cord to tie around your wrist, or tie on a belt for safe keeping Smiley

19  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / 'chair'okee on: August 19, 2005 09:53:54 AM
hi everyone!  this is my first project post in the housewares section, so please be gentle Smiley

this project was something that i did in my art class last year at the community college.  our class was asked to paint chairs to be auctioned off for habitat for humanity, and our professor wanted us to all use the same theme.  so she asked us to use the word chair in the themes.  someone did chairy and painted cherries all over it, someone else did chairloom and had some celtic designs to look like an heirloom, someone else did chairub and glued wings to the back of it and painted a cherub on the seat.  i decided to do chairokee because of my indian heritage.

the woman who won the auction sent my chair to her brother in new mexico who is studying native american rituals and religion and sent me a very nice thank you for making something that highlights and celebrates my heritage.  it made me feel warm and fuzzy hehe Cheesy

i was really happy with how this turned out, and was sad that i wasn't able to keep it for myself lol Smiley  but it went for a good cause Cheesy
