21  Re: How My Garden Grows Swap (sign up March 20-April 2) Sendout by May 8 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by amymisha on: March 31, 2010 11:06:49 AM
I'm so ghetto-tastic I grow my beans and peas along the chain link fence in my yard.  Make a great trellis, and makes it look a little prettier! Ghettolicious!

Manage to get a picture just now.  Yes, a headboard.  It worked great last year.  Got it from Goodwill.  That colorful stuff hanging from the shepherds hook are melted plastic bead ornaments.  I used to hang them from a dead tree, but the owners have since had it cut down, so now they are on the little shepherds hook.

OK...my after pictures.... I guess the challenge wasn't a total fail....

Books, after... sorted by theme....on the bottom shelf are my babies....the first 5 years of Mother Earth News.

This is my homesteading, herbal stuff, travel and DIY bookshelf...

These were the books before...they were all in my bedroom, now they're in my tiny room that's not a closet but not a room either.

The most organized part of my craft supplies...

And on a frugal crafty topic...this container was made from a tea container that my supervisor gave me. I used an exacto knife to fit one of the peg board things into it. It makes a great container for markers, and look purty.

Some scrapbooking/paper stuff. This is on top of my craft book bookcase which is, unfortunately, blocked by boxes right now. Blythe looks scared...poor thing has been ignored lately.

And the ubiquitous No!Kitten! picture. My scrapbooking tote is her favorite place to perch lately. And yes, that is a box of Cheerios near her. My daughter munches them everywhere. She's 15, and still munches Cheerios.

Well...it's a little better!

On the sock critter theme...here's one I made for a swap recently. Misha gave me grief for hours.."Mom! I can't believe you make sock rabbits in your free time. Why can't you just be normallllllll?" She has named him Awkward Bunny.

OK...I promised before pictures of my disaster of a craft area. The final treatment was yesterday, so now I get to unpack it all and declutter. On the plus side, I have sold 2 sets of old rubber stamps in the past 2 days, in preparation for decluttering!

Here it is.

and here's an obligatory picture of No!Kitten perched atop a stack of stuff. She's safely at Tim's house, having been poisoned last time they treated the place. Poor No!Kitten. She is fine now....

Speaking of decluttering, that trunk is gone now. It was too big for my place anyway....

I did not, however, get a picture of my most organized craft place. My mom got me a peg board system for my birthday last year and I LOVE it. My coworker gave me a really pretty container that once held tea, and I retrofitted it to stick on my peg board. It's the perfect size for markers. See? Frugal and decluttering. I'll try to get pics up tomorrow....

Here's one of my before pictures...sorry it's sideways, I will upload them all unsideways tomorrow....

Now, to be fair. I have a major before/after advantage, if you can call it that. Because I have had to box everything up and pile it into the middle of every room and either live like this for 2 weeks, or move it back and then move it again. I chose living like this for 2 weeks. Tomorrow is my last treatment, so I am looking forward to regaining some form of control and sanity.

But this is my craft area. I really don't know how big our apartment is...I am guessing 400 square feet, maybe a little more. Misha and I live here.... it's tight, and she hates it, but it's all I can afford in this area. Anyway, craft area lives in my bedroom. We have no "living room" and I don't even remember what one of those is. I just entertain in my equally tiny kitchen!

So.... this is a glimpse at my before. *shudder*

25  Re: FrugALong 2010 February's Theme First Post in Craftalongs by amymisha on: March 01, 2010 07:12:55 AM
For February I made a bunch of things for the Frugal Living Swap that fit the category. Of course, I am an idiot and didn't take pictures, so I am borrowing them from RottenLittleBoys...

I made felted dryer balls (I LOVE making these!!!)

And I made felted soaps (which I also adore making!)

I also made her some pan scrubbies out of onion bags. I love that swap...it was so much fun. : )

OK!! Here are my pictures, finally!! I misplaced my camera like an idiot. Found it under a box of fabric (?). *sigh*

Anyway....rottenlittleboys sent me the nicest package and note. She really really though things through and her package brightened my day/week/month!

So...first up...this amazing lunch bag with a dala horse type fabric. Gorgeous print!!! And she gave me the leftover fabric....so pretty!!!

Next up...a really awesome plastic bag dryer! I have actually been wanting one, and after this swap was thinking of making one! Love it!!!

Then, some crocheted dish cloths. Handy, as I have a massive pile of dishes I should be doing as we speak! Such nice colors too!!! They make me wish I could crochet more than just a straight line!!! The colors remind me of crocuses....I think it must be mid-February....

A cutey little cross stitched bear for my new niece!!! : ) Zoe will love it, and I am putting a parcel together for my sister right now...

And a great coupon holder which will work MUCH better than the piles of coupons all over my house. now they have a place!!

And finally, some AMAZING flame patterned polar fleece. I am a fire spinner (for fun, not profit) and have with a ton of fire spinning people all up and down the east coast! These will make gorgeous wick covers for my hoop, so the wicks don't get my car all sooty! And make awesome covers for my boyfriends poi! and...and...and.... I'll get a LOT of use out of this!!!

She's been a wonderful partner and was just so thoughtful. She's also been super supportive during my various meltdowns!

Fun swap.....

My sender was Oops Creations  and she sent a big box crammed full of papers, GREAT little heart confetti (it'll be great for resin fun), awesome glittery alphabet letters, punches, scrapbooking goodies, stencils, and more fun!
here are the pics:

Thanks so much for a fun swap...and for help me clear out my craft stuff a bit!

29  Re: The Way of Herbs: An Herbalism Swap - The Gallery in The Swap Gallery by amymisha on: December 10, 2009 06:33:51 AM
Sorry...tried to post last night and got crazy frustrated....

I got my package!!! The whole box smells heavenly!

I got...... a lavender eye pillow.....

A BUNCH of great looking teas! (I'm so excited about these...)

Two beautifully scented trivets. I now need to cook so I can set hot pans on them. They smell soooooo good....

An issue of Herb Companion. It is currently residing on my pillow, but I keep falling asleep before I get to read any articles. Can't wait, though!!!

And an aloe baby! Who survived, even though it is COLD here. I am going to get him all snuggled up in a little pot tonight.... she's so cute! I've named her Charley. : )

And...from one I understand there's another little bit coming.... I hope it's there when I get home from work today!

Fun swap! Thank you!!!!

30  Re: Budget Meals Swap Gallery of Deliciousness! in The Swap Gallery by amymisha on: June 13, 2009 07:56:23 AM
My absolutely fabulous and incredibly patient swap partner Desiree sent a lovely package!!! All of the recipe cards were backed with gorgeous fabrics, very clever and unique. I love them.

She also sent a fantastic quilted pot holder, in sumptuous velvets and beautiful colors!!! It's so pretty!!

She has been the best, most patient and most understanding partner I have ever had and I owe her a tremendous apology for being so late. Thank you, Desiree!!!
