11  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / My Makeup Board on: January 09, 2013 02:29:00 AM
Recently, I made (with the help of my husband) a magnetic makeup board for our bathroom. I'm trying to get the clutter off the countertops and it seems to be working. I found the idea on Pinterest. I bought a frame at Michael's when they were on sale and my husband bought the steel sheet from Home Depot and cut it down to size. Then I used a fat quarter I bought at Joann's and glued the circular craft magnets to the back of my makeup tins. I plan to
add some magnets to some pen holders I have and put my brushes in them.

Here's the link to the tute.

And my magnetic makeup board!

What do you think? Smiley

12  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / A bunch of t-shirts on: December 16, 2012 06:32:22 PM
I recently made a few t-shirts for my sister. She's an actress and loves the movie, Goonies.

First of all, a Goonies t-shirt. I used reverse applique with a black t-shirt and white knit fabric.

Second, a white floral t-shirt inspired by The Pleated Poppy Blog. Here's the direct link to the tutorial. http://thepleatedpoppy.com/2009/11/gettin-crafty/

And last, but definitely not least - a Theater Hierarchy t-shirt inspired by an episode of Family Guy, called "From Method to Madness." This t-shirt was painted using freezer paper stencils. For some reason my stencil wouldn't remain adhered to the t-shirt as well as in the past and so the paint smudged a little and it gave a bit of a true stencil effect.

13  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Belle Ruffle Gloves on: September 23, 2012 01:08:52 AM
I recently knitted these Belle Ruffle Gloves for the Once Upon A Time Swap. The pattern is by Veronica O'Neil and is available on Ravelry. I used some yarn from my stash. I believe the black is Knit Picks Shine Sport in Black and the purple is Knit Picks Cotlin in Lilac. I had ordered a bunch of the Cotlin Lilac for a shawl for one of my bridesmaids in my wedding, but the shade of purple was off, so I'm finding new uses for the multiple skeins I have. Smiley

What do you think of them?

14  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Once Upon A Time Swap Gallery on: September 16, 2012 03:32:11 PM
Hello! I received my swap package from Misskohaku on Friday and am just now able to post the pics.

She sent along some chocolate covered macadamia nuts all the way from Hawaii. (I've always wanted to go and I've only been to the Honolulu airport.  Tongue )

She also sent along an embroidery hoop with a quote from Astrid.

And a fabric bookmark and the book, The Complete Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm. I have been wanting this book for a long time.

And probably my favorite item, little key earrings. I put these on immediately after opening the box. Smiley

Thank you so much for everything, Misskohaku!

I received my hoop from spidermom on Friday and just now am able to post a pic. She embroidered one of my absolute favorite quotes from the tv show, Friends. This will definitely be hanging up in my studio and I will laugh every time I look at it. She also sent along a fat quarter of the fabric behind it. I LOVE fabric. Smiley

Thank you so much, spidermom! I LOVE IT!
16  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Vintage apron on: September 14, 2012 11:39:01 AM
this is lovely! is it from a purchased pattern or an online pattern? I love the full skirt effect

It's from a Simplicity pattern #2592. The pattern called for another tier for the skirt which I opted to leave out and instead of the shoulder straps buttoning at the waist in back I made them tie.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.

I recently made this apron for my partner in the Bento Swap.

Wow, these hoops are fantastic! I only hope mine will finish up half as awesome as these! I only just got my waste canvas to begin the cross-stitching on mine.
