1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Baby Owl on: November 08, 2016 11:59:53 AM
Wow, there are some good costumes here! Here's my baby in the owl costume I made her. I made it out of fleece and felt. Except for the eyes, they are felt on cardboard and buttons.
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Givers and Needers Swap on: May 12, 2015 06:19:14 AM
I haven't seen one of these swaps in a while, but I am trying to limit myself to just a few crafty pursuits nowadays, which leaves me with a lot of craft supplies that I don't need.

I can't just throw them away or give them to the thrift store, though. I need to know they are going to a good home where they will be loved and used...

It's been a while, but I think the givers sent supplies and the needers sent a small crafted item in return.

Does anyone else out there need to clean out their craft room?

Are there any crafters out there that may need a few supplies?
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Desmond on: December 05, 2014 06:47:35 AM
My friends have the most adorable Great Dane puppy named Desmond. I made them an ornament to commemorate their first Christmas with him. I used acrylic felt, embroidery thread, and sewing thread. I'm not the best artist, but I tried to show his markings the best I could. I wish I had made his chin smaller, but I'm still pretty stoked to give it to them!
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Giraffe Baby Quilt on: May 28, 2014 04:50:25 PM
I had made a baby quilt about 20 years ago, but nothing of the like since.
Then I found out a friend of mine was having a baby and I went to Babies R Us to get some stuff off of her shower list and it was not a pleasant experience, so I decided to make something instead... that something was this baby quilt:

The nursery was a jungle theme, so I used leopard print fabric and muslin for the squares, and I found this peachy-pink giraffe print for the back. I thought the squares were missing something, so I cut a giraffe silhouette out and appliqued it to the front. I have never appliqued anything successfully, so I thought I would try a straight-stitch around the edges instead of a zig-zag stitch. It came out a little wonky, so was about to zig-zag over it, but the more I looked at it, I decided that I liked the wonky line and decided to add more:

I think it looks like I sketched around the outline with thread and I really like the look!
I mistakenly used a satin blanket binding around the edges that was too wide, and it didn't quite work out when I ironed it in half  Undecided , but I'm still quite proud of it!
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Serveta Key Holder on: August 28, 2011 05:55:57 AM
A friend of mine was always losing his keys, and he had a Serveta scooter (a Lambretta scooter made in Spain), so I made him a keyholder inspired by all of the mounted felt and paper animal heads I had been seeing.
The proportion is way off, but I'm still darn proud of it!

(PS- I made it in 2007, I think, but never got around to posting it until now  Embarrassed )
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Newspaper Yarn! on: August 14, 2008 01:30:31 PM
I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but I found this today and thought I would share it:

8  Georgia / Georgia: Central / The South Will Reuse Again! Atlanta, GA morsbag pod on: July 08, 2007 08:17:44 AM
I'm trying to get together a morsbag pod (www.morsbags.com) if anyone is interested. PM me and we'll figure out when to get together. Even if you aren't into this idea, lets get together anyway! It would be fun to get a group of crafters together once a fortnight or so to work on projects and discuss crafting.
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Cold Comfort Farm on: April 02, 2006 04:05:28 PM
Does anyone else just love this movie? I think this would be an excellent theme for a swap... anyone else think so?
PS- Rent it if you've never seen it!
10  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. / New Year's Resolutions on: December 08, 2005 07:51:24 AM
How about crafting your resolutions? Instead of just making a list, how about making a painting, diorama, collage, t-shirt... something that you can see or use year-round to help you remember? Like, if you want to quit smoking, make some gloves with a NO SMOKING sign on them, or some black lungs-  You'll probably just throw them away in a week because you'll be cranky from not smoking or you'll get tired of seeing them every time you bring your cigarette to your mouth, but they might actually work for some people... I don't know... It sounded like a good idea when it popped into my head a few minutes ago...
