1  Twee - beribboned fingerless gloves *Now with free pattern link* in Knitting: Completed Projects by nushybum on: July 07, 2007 10:53:24 AM
Introducing Twee.

Twee is the latest pattern I've made to be rejected from Knitty. (That makes two so far.)

Personally I love them so I'm not upset by it! Would love to hear your feedback, and if you want the pattern (i'll put it up for free on my blog if you do).

2  The Tabitha: a summery shrug/cropped cardi in Knitting: Completed Projects by nushybum on: May 24, 2007 02:42:16 PM
I can't believe I've made the deadline! Je te presente, The Tabitha:
(the picture resizing is a but yeutch, so I've posted the URLs too)

I knit this for my aunt's birthday (which was last week, eep!) & haven't given it to her yet...Luckily she is unaware of the existance of Craftster! My aunt is 8 months pregnant so the ribbon (which is just pinned on in the photo) should accomodate her during the last stint of her pregnancy, as well as afterwards.

100% self-designed little shrug, I wrote the pattern myself & it's made of just four balls of Debbie Bliss Stella. It has shaping on the fronts to create that cute wavey/flarey look, and short rows on the edgings. Knit top-down with YO eyelets in the raglan.

VOTE FOR ME and I will write up the pattern & post it totally free! Thanks!

I've just had word that this was rejected from Knitty. I submitted it for their summer '07 issue. I'm not that upset though, just excited that I'll get to put it up as a free pattern on my blog Smiley

I'll be putting up the pattern tomorrow, meanwhile would love to hear what you think Smiley I've just put the pattern up, please see http://magic-fingers.blogspot.com/2007/04/twisted-maiden-fingerless-gloves.html.

4  happy velvet waistcoat in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by nushybum on: April 01, 2007 02:47:56 PM

I'm very pleased with this waistcoat! I made it over the weekend and hope to wear it a lot over the summer. I love the mismatching buttons (only the top one is functional, but the two lower decorative ones have hook and eye fastenings beneath them) and the little black embroideries, as well as the happy red velvet fabric. The waistcoat is made from a pattern (can't remember which one, though it was view A...) and it's lined with a white polycotton.

To read more about the waistcoat (including how it primarily made me look like a morris dancer Shocked) see this blog entry: http://magic-fingers.blogspot.com/2007/04/on-avoiding-becoming-morris-dancer.html.

I'd love to hear what you think!

P.S. - you may remember me from the librarian dress episode. Yes, now I'm onto morris dancers *sigh*

6  Hothouse Gloves and Monkey Socks in Knitting: Completed Projects by nushybum on: February 24, 2007 02:10:10 PM
Some recent little projects that I thought I'd share. I have just realised that all I knit is for other people, therefore can only squeeze in projects that are little for myself. I want to knit sweaters & scarves for myself, damn it!

Hothouse Gloves
Modified for double-knitting yarn from a pattern in a back issue of Rowan Magazine.

Monkey Socks
Knit in a plain yarn from the pattern in Knitty.com Winter 2006, by Cookie A.

7  GO, GRANNY, GO! | Grey plaid pinafore dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by nushybum on: January 06, 2007 02:50:23 PM
So at the moment I've got this thing about librarians. I don't know what it is. Well actually I do - I've been thinking about stereotypical images of librarians, especially British ones. I then wrote a short story about a (female, British) librarian who goes crazy, which my grandfather then followed up with his OWN story about a (male, Polish) librarian who goes crazy. Hahahahahahaha (this story is hilarious, you wouldn't know. Sorry. Inside joke.)

I made this dress from a pattern (can't remember which unfortunately) and the only modification I made was to make it 7 inches shorter than the shortest length. The fabric is a wool blend and woven in Prince of Wales check. Personally I LOVE the dress, I've been wanting to make a pinafore dress ever since I tried one on in H&M and the cut was so awful and fabric SO itchy that I vowed to make my own. And hence, the librarian dress was born.

Do let me know what you think.

8  inky curlicue doodling cards in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by nushybum on: January 04, 2007 10:31:02 AM
I had lots of fun making thank-you cards for special people this year. Normally I don't send them, I phone instead, but this year is different. They are made from hand-made recycled cotton rag from India and decorated with drawing ink, applied with a pen. I made several sets, and you can see better, bigger photos with more close-ups/details on my Flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nushbush.

Let me know what you think!
I think if I ever get round to setting up an Etsy shop, these would feature. They're so fun, and relaxing to make too. Just doodle away.

9  Mini Flowers | Hand-painted glass tealight holders in Glass Crafts: Completed Projects by nushybum on: December 30, 2006 03:34:57 AM

I made these tealight holders as a housewarming gift - the recipient loved them. They make an excellent Christmas present, too.

Larger images can be seen on Flickr http://flickr.com/photos/nushbush/tags/glasspainting/ (just click the pics).

Let me know what you think!
