1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Can I dye only part of a dress? on: November 15, 2008 11:42:43 AM
So I've got this dress. It was a hand-me down from a friend of mine. Excuse the poor photo shop skills.

It has been on my floor/around my room for a while, and somehow ended up going through the wash cycle quite a few times. Somehow, between my other clothes(lots of dark jeans and black tee shirts etc.) and the dress itself, the white trim has become dingy and pretty gross looking(refer to "ew.").
I have a military holiday party to go to Dec 9th with my boyfriend, and nothing to wear, and absolutely no money to buy anything with.
However, I do have these stunning suede brown/orange/yellow peep toe heels that would look fabulous with the dress if there was slightly more coordination going on.
So here's my preposition:
I buy some yellow dye(see "cute.") and either paint it or sponge paint it onto just the gross white parts of the dress, because I don't really want to turn the brown a weird color.

I just dye the whole dress and hope it doesn't end up looking like barf-brown.

My mom suggested I take it to the dry cleaners and see if they can get the dinginess out, but I kind of have my heart set on turning it yellowto match my shoes.

What do you guys think? Is there a better option?

Thanks in advance,
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / wording help? on: January 07, 2006 06:38:59 AM
i want to make a shirt that says "girl anachronism," but i dont have a screen printing thing,(or paint for that matter)
and my printer only works when it feels like it...
i was thinking of embroidering, but if i did that on a streachy fabric it would pull it funny.
any ideas?

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / shirty thingy on: May 18, 2005 03:04:05 PM
i had a black tank top
and some of this fabric :

SOOO. i made a halter.
i cut the top off and made a tube-thing.
next i cut the paisley fabric into an elongated half-circle and sewed it onto the tank top.
then , i scrunched the front

to do this, make a baste stitch(the longest straight stich you can go) and knot one end. pull one string of the other side and so it scrunches together.
i came downstairs to show my mom (i stole some of her fabric, even though it was in the scrap box) and she made this shocked face. so i got all scared. she goes "it's beautiful"
she scared the holy bejesus outta me : /

tell me if you like it

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / bathing suit on: May 10, 2005 07:46:05 PM
hello everybody.
SOOO... i have this green empire waist shirt. v neck spaghetti straps, the whole shaboozle.
it was once a dress, but i cut it shorter.  and i was wondering if anybody could give me tips on how to make it into a bathing suit

i plan to line the top with some kind of light foam cups, and i plan to use some sort of lining in the sides so they don't sag or anything when wet. i believe the shirt is polyester, but im not sure, it is streachy, which is good.

as for the bottom, i think im just gonna wing it modeled from a bathingsuit or something. just a bit bigger to fit my gadunkadunk.
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / check out my latest... on: April 23, 2005 06:34:57 AM
this was a black sublime sweatshirt, but i got bored of it.
i had the green fabric laying around...
ti took me about an hour, except to put the cardboard in the bottom...

when i thought i was finished i didn't like how floppy it was so i took out the bottom seam and shoved in 2 pieces of bristle board.

those were taken before i put the cardboard in

soooooooo whaddya think?
