1  Wire wrapped garnet pendant in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Melusine on: January 06, 2012 04:21:17 PM
Made a new wire necklace today! It's sterling silver with garnets and a little bit of gold wire Smiley It was quite tricky to get the garnets to stay in place though.

2  Gingerbread Cottage from Hansel and Gretel! in CHALLENGE 70 ENTRIES by Melusine on: January 06, 2012 08:19:02 AM
So, I was looking for an excuse to make a gingerbread house when I saw this challenge - perfect!  It being the holidays I had plenty of time to spare, so I went a little crazy on this one. It is 100% edible, apart from the tray and foil, and took about 4 hours from making the gingerbread to putting the final decorations on. I'm really proud of this since it's only the second gingerbread house I have ever done, and I learned a lot for the next time Smiley The gate and weathervane were made by piping royal icing onto baking parchment and leaving it to dry, while the windows and icicles are melted glacier mints.  Unfortunately, the roof sags a teeny bit in the middle, since I used quite a 'soft' gingerbread recipe, so as not to break my teeth whilst eating it. The edible glitter and gold powder on the roof tiles don't show up well in the pictures, but did look fab in real life Smiley The railings are of course broken on purpose, so as to add a sinister air to the cottage  Wink Comments and critiques very welcome, Enjoy! (Sorry if this is too many pictures)
