Nine? Poor kid! Good thing she has a lovely auntie like you to make her cute stuff. I love the happy little cloud!

The colour doesn't variate exactly, but with crushed velvet it always gives off funny reflections like that! I didn't use interfacing, but burning the edges stiffened them up enough to hold the rest of the fabric in the right shape (rather than it flopping over.)

I scrolled past this on the recent posts with pictures, and then scrolled back up and thought 'oh, poor girl, I wonder if she knows that her painting looks like a transvestite!'

Then I read the text, obviously! I'm not a big little britain fan, but I do think it'd be quite a funny subversive sort of thing to make people do a double take!

Yup, burnt round the edges myself. And, impressively, the fabric was the only thing I burnt!

I'd like a poppy tattoo, but I need to have a good long thing about designs and placement!

Actually Edinborough, the capital city of Scotland, is on top of an extinct volcano! Edinborough castle sits right on top.

Nice collage!

Poppies are my absolute favourite flowers, but the only poppy related item I own is a necklace that my great-grandmother passed down to me, which is what sparked my poppy-love in the first place. I decided that this situation needed immediate rectification, so, a poppy hair-clip! It's crushed velvet, burnt round the edges. Super easy to do, and it looks lovely.

That's breathtaking! I doubt I'd have the patience to do a skirt, but I may well try a top like that... thanks for the inspiration!
29  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Vintage 'dos and make-up (Come share your secrets!) on: March 03, 2008 07:19:50 PM
I followed some of the links in here, and had a go at pin-curls tonight - wow! My hair has always gone limp in minutes using a curling iron, but these seem much more sturdy. Do you have any advice for sleeping on curls? Would a turban type thing reduce how much they got squished?

('scuse the frumpy 'jamas and funny face!)
30  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Shop the Swap 12 - discussion on: March 01, 2008 04:56:55 PM
LL, don't worry.  The wool sweater that I got from the thrift store smelled like mothballs too.  I aired for a few weeks and then washed it and the smell was all gone.  Smiley

I've been spending the day with Lana and trying to clean.  Right now she's making me play a game where I am her dog and have to fetch the ball, etc.  Maybe I should just cave in and get her a dog?

But tonite I shall craft!!

I used to play that game with my little brother! To the point whereby he saw a ball, and rather than trying to kick it or throw it, tried to pick it up in his mouth! Probably hideously unhygenic... Cheesy
