11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Treasure Island dress + anchors top & skirt + zebra pants! on: April 28, 2008 03:40:28 AM
The maps dress is lovely, and it looks fantastically well tailored. Would you mind sharing what method you used for  the bust ruching? I have such trouble with it, did you sew a straight line & gather it, or zigzags? Or elastic?

I love that your language has a word for the day you fell in love! I guess we have anniversaries, but somehow the way you said it sounded so much nicer Grin

Durham perchance?

I'm a geordie too! Teehee! That looks delicious, especially the sauce...

Master of disguise! I've never laughed so long or hard at any scene in any movie as much as that one. Makes me giggle just thinking about it...

The dress & fabric are pretty cool too Wink
15  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Post Secret Swap IV Gallery!!! on: April 12, 2008 04:29:01 AM
I'm not in this swap, but I had to comment on the design school one. I'm 16, and I have my heart set on a fashion college that is nigh on impossible to get into. I know I'm setting my standards high, and I'm probably going to get my heart broken, but I feel like it's worth it on the minute offchance that I do get in. I'm sorry you didn't, but I hope you still enjoy making fashion, even if it isn't professionally. =]
16  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Shop the Swap 13 on: April 12, 2008 04:22:25 AM

My house is pet & smoke free!

2 pt items:

Approx. 520m/568yds white cashcotton, divided into two whole balls of 130m/142yds each, and four smaller balls. Not an expert on dying, but I'd imagine it'd be good for that kind of thing...

35% Cotton, 25% polyamide, 18% angora, 13% viscose, 9% cashmere (2pts)

Green felted-bead bracelet (2pts)

1pt items:

Purple and red glass bead bracelet. Fits my 6.5'' wrist well, with a little room (1pts)

Grey cabled neckwarmer, knitted from a 30% wool, 70% acrylic blend. It has no buttons for the time being, so I can add them according to taste

Birdie embroidery. I can make it into something small, (pouch or cuff maybe?) or you can have it as is as a patch. For more points (negotiable!) i could make it a feature on a bag or something. About 3'' end to end (1pt)

Custom-made shop banner or forum avatar, anything goes as long as I can find images for it! (1pt)

1/2 pt items

Earrings! All 1/2 pt per pair, remember to specify which in your claim PM

Lot of crochet flowers, circles and one granny-square. These were my practise, so they may not be perfect... (1/2 pt the lot)

Felt patches. Robot only avaliable(1/2 pt each)

Urgh, sorry about that. I swear it was legal though! It was an audiobook from audible.co.uk, that I thought was quintessentially english, called 'the uncommon reader', by Alan Bennet. I can't prove it's not illegal though, so no pictures I guess.

The weak dollar may be bad for you guys, but it's great for us brits! I'm saving my pennies to shop over there this summer, and get twice as much for my money!
19  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Re: Promalong - Making your own Prom dress? Join the club! on: March 07, 2008 08:51:50 AM
Heavily inspired by a previous poster (no prizes for guessing who!) I started on a lacy dress. It's definately inspired by rather than copying from, as I've used the lace quite sculptedly (haha, I invented a word too Tongue), but thanks for the inspiration skarinja!

Anyway, my right boobie is done, all handsewn. I'm just hoping it fits me as well as it does the dress-form!

Ooh, me first! (My package got to me in a crazy 4 days. Transatlantic. Impressive, no?)

The loot:

There was readymade magazine, sweetarts (not shown Wink) and other candy, postcards, stickers, a Bostonian mug and a Bostonite notepad. I think that's it, but everything scattered pretty quickly, so apologies if I missed anything!

Thanks so much octopusinclothing!

Edit: The photo was screwing up, so I've added a link instead. Sorry about that!
