1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Charted Adventure treasure map behavoir chart. on: March 14, 2014 06:21:06 AM
I came up with this idea in the shower one day last week and set out on the adventure of creation. I should have used a bit more measuring as its a bit crooked in areas. Plus I should have put in more planning but I'm the type to wing it and freestyle craft. Overall still happy with the outcome. We had a big freezer box laying around which was cut into 2" strips and 2 big panels were cut one measured 24" square that got covered in fabric the other was the base for the frame and panel to go on and that one was 28" square. With lots and lots of hot glue I layered the strips and squares up and glued on mock wood which I painted with ink and watercolors on watercolor paper. The treasure maps, ship, bottle, treasure chest and daily diamonds were all done with heavy 140lb watercolor paper ink & watercolors. So this is how I designed it to work:  My daughter gets a diamond for every day she fills up her chart with 16 gems (every set goal complete gets a gem over the maps I will probably make a chart for a reminder but they will change as she gets older). If she gets 7 diamonds she gets her treasure chest (allowance) and catches a mermaid. If she catches 4 mermaids she gets a message in a bottle which is a random surprise reward the bottle is flipped to the side where it is empty until she gets the mermaids and the message shows up. Smiley I had lots of fun making this and I hope you guys enjoy as well. Most of all I hope it works well she's really excited about it so far.

Please ignore the unfinished frankenwall. Its hideous I know but I gotta keep sweet talking the hubby into helping me finish it up.. LOL

2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Simple batty ornaments! on: October 05, 2013 04:38:41 PM
I made my first tutorial basically to show how to make bats I came up with an idea I havent seen before with making the wings but I'm pretty pleased with how they came out. I made another type as well but I think I like these better and they hold up pretty well.
Here are the finished ones
here is the body all glued together before painting (I want to do a way better face paint but I wanted to make this simple and quick for the tutorial)

here are a few hanging under the hoops I have received in craft swaps! ^.~
(sorry for the bad picture on this one!

I managed these really quick because of the simple design and fast paint! I wanted people to be able to make them simple! I'm thinking of hanging some in my tree but they need to be spray painted and sealed instead of what I did on these. The longest part was actually painting all the pieces which sucked because i had to use watered down acrylic paint. I was running low and I didnt plan ahead well enough. I highly recommend that if you are making a bunch to buy some spray paint and paint them a base coat of solid black after gluing together! Bottom line is that I really needed something to focus on to help me de-gloomify my mood and it helped. I will probably do another tutorial this upcoming week as well. Full tutorial on my blog (here) if interested! I just dont want to go through loading them all one at a time because my little junky netbook I'm on right now is is a grump when i upload/download/watch things over the internet.  Hope you enjoy them!!! Cheesy
3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Gears & girl Watercolor on paper. on: October 14, 2012 08:50:29 AM
Ok so I've been in steampunk mode lately. My daughter who is 4 has been making me listen to Steam Powered Giraffe constantly since she has this huge crush on a guy in the band called the Spine (If you look it up he's the silver dude in the fedora!) Really not that I mind listening to them because they are awesome I just wish I wouldnt have a song of theirs stuck in my head at a constant like literally all times it seems! Their songs have been running through my head for a week straight and really I always had them get stuck in there but now my daughter is on this insane kick! I wake up throughout the night even and I have one in there! This morning when i woke up it was Automatonic Electronic Harmonics and last night when going to bed it was Honeybee. So my daughter decided she's going to be a robot of that style for halloween so i've been trying to tune my gears that way..... ANYWAY - I've been wanting to paint and I love to doodle so i drew this up and then painted it.. The first one that is more vivid but kinda blurry is with flash the other without to try to show the metallics better...  I need to break out my camera and get better ones so please excuse the quality as I took them with my phone!

This is a watercolor painting on paper. I did it with some Metallic Watercolors as well.. I'm a huge fan of metallics. I'm not so happy with the hat or the shading in some areas but if I keep messing with it I will ruin the paper.. >.> I like it well enough for now though ask me again once I've had the chance to look at it more haha. C&C always welcome and appreciated! Thanks for looking!

5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / monkey girl painted plaque and bow wall hanging & matching crochet monkey on: September 15, 2012 05:11:42 PM
Ok since this is a double item I figured this the best place to share... One is a decorative wall hanging I freehand painted a monkey and braided bead ribbon and other ribbon to make a hanger then I made a matching bow all in the colors she is decorating in. So  the other one is a crochet doll to match. All of it to match my friends store bought covers. So I  made these for her baby shower present! C&C most welcome Smiley

7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Adventure Time and fashion monkey and zebra jewelry (pic fat) on: August 30, 2012 05:13:07 PM
So I've been playing around with polymer clay (I figured it fit in this group more as its all jewelry) and I made a few adventure time themed things... First my favorite:
Lady Rainicorn and Jake the Dog Love necklace:

Lemongrab man he is a crazy dude I love him:

Peppermint Butler:

Lumpy Space Princess:

Nosferatu: he has some issues but I just thought it would be funny

Fashion monkeys:

Fashion Zebras:

It shows the progression of trying to hammer out my design the one next to the nickel is the size I will go with ^__^

The Zebras are something I made that are close to my heart. The Ehlers Danlos Syndrome ribbon is Zebra and we call ourselves zebras because often we are misdiagnosed many times before we meet our EDS diagnosis. We call ourselves Zebras and we are a herd of caring people who try to get word out for this under diagnosed and often unheard of genetic disorder. There is a saying for doctors in medical school " If you hear hoof beats think horse not Zebra" basically that you check what is most common before you jump to conclusions.... So many doctors never check but Zebras do exist and more than was previously thought!   So I decided to use my crafting to support an organization called CEDSA it helps raise awareness and helps support people with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I will be making some of these to send to girls who are going through a rough time with their EDS and need some cheering up. I plan on making something for boys as well because I cant leave them out. Most that are effected by EDS (or rather the ones that get diagnosed really) are women but its believed that many men are misdiagnosed or go without getting a diagnosis. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and it has been a lifelong battle of chronic pain and health problems. Crafting has become my great support system for dealing with the pain. I can focus on something productive and it takes focus away from the pain I have. I am very happy to be able to do this and use it to help the cause. I will be making all sorts of zebra things to donate the proceeds to CEDSA and that really makes me feel good that I can do something to make a little difference even if it helps just one person that's enough for me.

thanks for looking guys! C&C welcome and appreciated! Cheesy

The penguin measures 8" and his arms move! The blanket measures 36" x 40.5" Its my first blanket I've done and it was TONS of work! I'm pretty proud of how they turned out excuse my crappy photos though! LOL Cell phone pics since my camera screen is broken its hard to take pics... But I couldn't resist sharing since I put tons of work into it! I will probably take the scraps to make a hair clip to match for them too!
