11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / I got my wisdom teeth out ongoing care package swap on: April 03, 2007 12:33:04 AM
kind of like the Ongoing Wish swaps, except for the fact that you can only be part of it for a month.  After that, no more feeling sorry for yourself!   Grin  I'm getting my wisdom teeth out, sometime soon, myself.
12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / anatomical heart on: November 05, 2006 11:48:51 PM
I am looking to find a 3D anatomical heart pattern.  I already have a 2D one.  My friend has had a lot of heart trouble in her life, and she told me that if I knitted her a heart, I would be her favorite.  You know a Craftster can never back down from a challenge!  Can you help me?

14  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Moving swap? on: May 05, 2006 06:20:39 PM
I've noticed that a lot of our Craftsters have been moving, lately, and I thought that it would be great if we did a swap for them, kinda like one of the Birthday Swaps, where we make them some crafty goodness, and all they have to do is send a thank you note.  What do you all think?
15  EUROPE / SCANDINAVIAN/NORDIC / Faroe Islands? on: May 05, 2006 06:10:14 PM
I was just wondering if there were any Craftsters in the Faroe Islands.
16  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Love Gun Earrings on: April 18, 2006 07:28:26 PM
I made these for my swap partner in the Heart Swap Round 2

17  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knitta Cuppa Joe (now with a tutorail, kinda) on: April 13, 2006 10:44:25 PM
ok, so I feel like a really bad person.  I was in the Coffee and Tea round two swap, and I made this, but when I was done, I loved it too much to send away, and I didn't have time to make another one.   Embarrassed

I used the Hot Head pattern from Stitch N' Bitch for a base.  Though, I think any bulky hat pattern where you knit in the round will work.  I used worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles.  I just cast on 48 stitches, knitted until I liked the height of it, and did the decreases they had in the book (though, since the hat in the pattern was ribbed I changed all the purls to knits.)
Row 1:   * K2tog, k2; rep from * to end
Row 2:   * K2tog, k1; rep from * to end
Row 3 and 4: knit
Row 5:   * K2tog; rep from * to end
Row 6:   * K2tog; rep from * to end
pull the end for the yarn through the loops, tie off and weave in
for the handle I cast on 8 stitches in the round and knitted a tube that I concidered long enough (about 6 inches) and bound off, leaving yarn on both ends for sewing
for the coffee itself, I cast on three stitches, and knitted increasing on both ends til it was wide enough for the top of the cup, then decreased on both ends 'til I was back to three.  Then I stuffed it and sewed it up.

p.s.  I made my partner a coffee bean bracelet, a tote bag, two mugs with a knitted cozy, some candy and a little box in her fav color with glazed coffee beans in the lid  https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=84750.30
18  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My Knitting Olympics project (Image heavy, sorry for the bigness of the pics!) on: February 25, 2006 11:17:26 PM
so for the Knitting Olympics, I decided I wanted to knit something a little international.  I had gotten this book on Scandinavian knitting design out at the library, and I have been fascinated by the knitting culture of the Faroe Islands for years, since going there in 2000, and it just so turned out that they had some interesting items in this book.  I really liked the concept of this, especially with the popularity of hand warmers, lately

so I made a pattern

and cast on, frogged twice, and finally was off and running

final product #1

I only have a few more rows to go on #2.  I love the Olympics!

19  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knitted Hand Grenade from Knitorama on: December 30, 2005 11:02:28 PM
so I bought this book on tuesday, the yarn on wednesday, knitted it on Thursday, and bought a digital camera on Friday, so here it is!
20  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Chicago Bears pillow on: November 17, 2005 12:31:12 AM
I knitted this for my friend's former roomate, who's in a band and on tour a lot, when he moved away from Chicago.

He basically screamed, jumped up and down, said "thats awesome" about 30 times, and dubbed me The World's Greatest Yarnstress, which I DEFFINATELY know I'm not.  Smiley
