hi all,
i really want to try counted cross stitching, but i'm a bit intimidated by it. i'm not *all* that handy with embroidery, and i'm still working on learning to knit. i want to do some photoshop-generated patterns, but is it much more difficult than it looks? if anyone out there wouldn't mind talking a little about their experiences with this craft, it would be really helpful!

I was thinking--would the peppermint essential oil irritate the dog's nose/sinuses? i know that my animals hate anything really strong, like a toothpaste smell.
What do you guys think? Is there another alternative? Is the peppermint for smell only? Is does seem a bit harsh...
thanks, r

Thanks so much, Bookgirl. I'm going to try the recipes, too. Let's post results!

Thanks so much!
We're using melt and pour. We have plain clear glycerin (probably the gentlest and least irratating for dogs, don't you think?), cocoa butter, and goat's milk. we can definitely get another kind, though, that's specifically pet-friendly.
Your ideas are great. If you do come up with a recipe and don't mind sharing it, it would be a big help.
Thanks again!

as in, bar of soap, silly. Smiley
Can anyone help make my dreams of Dog Shampoo in bar form a reality? My husband and I just got all these X-mas soap-making supplies from the Scent Shack, and now I'm inspired to make something for friends' dogs. I don't even know where to begin with this...Any ideas?

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Weirdness with first scarf--help, please!! on: October 06, 2004 04:58:38 PM
Oh, wow, you guys are so great.
I've been away from craftster and got all this help...Thanks! I figured it out, by the way. I had the yarn on the wrong side of the needle, if that makes any sense.
I love knitting. I feel like I'm slow to get the hang of it, but it's so gratifying. I find myself craving time at the end of the day to go home and knit.
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Weirdness with first scarf--help, please!! on: September 05, 2004 06:26:52 PM
i'm knitting my first scarf--knit one row, perl next. my knitted row seems to be magically increasing, so that i have this very neat diagonal and my scarf is falling off the end of my needle! so now i'm decreasing during the knitting row, but it seems like its still happening. maybe i'm accidentally knitting something on the end of the row that i'm not supposed to? what will happen if i just drop that last stitch?
is this weird, or what???
