1  Re: Yarnies Vs Sewists Gallery in The Swap Gallery by HeyVern on: June 05, 2010 06:04:14 AM
I received my AWESOME package from Kayrun.  She made me a beautiful Poncho which I've always wanted and great wash clothes.  I took a pic but it won't transfer from my camera for some reason.

But believe me, it is so jealous worthy Smiley

I can share a couple of pics, but I'm sure yours are better (I always snap in a hurry, ready to go to the p.o.!)

and 1 of the cloths:

Thanks for posting kayrun.  I still can't upload.
My office at work gets really cold so I'll be wearing my poncho in the summer.

I received my AWESOME package today from TrampyCouture.  I loved everything.

Here's the whole loot, I got a treatie container, an embroidered blankie, a keychain with my boys names, embroidered tea towels and an embroidered bag:

This is the tea towels and treatie jar in action:

A close up of the amazing embroidery on the tea towels.  These were pics from my Wists, yea!:

This isn't an "action" shot so much as a "lazy" shot of pikey on his new blankie with both of my boys embroidered on it. too cute!:

Last but not least, a close up of my favorite (because I specifically asked for it).  An embroidered bag of me, my little guy Winky and my mint green Vespa.  LOVE IT!!!

Thanks Megan!!  You're an awesome crafter and partner.

My husband made this a few years ago.  It's a little hard to read since the size has been reduced but it's still funny:

My boys run away as soon as the camera comes out, but here's a good one when Pikey was little:

I received my package from Oxnynox today and was so ecstatically happy, my husband thought I was losing my mind.  She is a great crafter, full of details and I am so happy she was my partner!!

This is the full lot:

My fabric.  An awesome teal with green flowers, a cute yellow with fruit, and a fabulous green with birds and flora.  AND an adorable doggie salt and pepper shaker set.

side note:  The dogs were wrapped in a chinese magazine page and I thought it would be great to use the font for crafting, then I thought, I have no idea what it says.  The photo was for mushroom pills, but the words could say "May give you an erection lasting 4 hours".

Here is a close up of the awesome painted tote bags.  These will be very handy with shopping.  LOVE the Mad Hatter because the 10/6 on his hat is my B-day.

This was not in my questionaire, so these 2 items are total mind readers:
I am a tea freak.  The totally delicious tea (which me and my husband sampled 10 minutes after getting it.) I love the smell, the chunky bits and the whole body happiness it gives you.
I stopped using my pin cushion last week so this is perfect with glow in the dark pins!!!

2 necklaces and 4 hair accessories!  Love them all.  The bead work is amazing.

The greatest shawl!  the scallops on the bottom have glass beads.  Perfect for Louisiana weather.  I immediately put it on.

This is the cool shawl pin close-up.  It is a stone with chain maile!!

And straight from my wists, the scarf that I looked at yesterday on my computer and thought, "I really want that!"
I LOVE scarfs and now I have one that I can wear year round.

This was the best package ever!!  I absolutely love every single thing.

10  Shoe Tutorial VERY IMG HEAVY! in Shoes: Completed Projects by HeyVern on: August 02, 2009 10:51:12 AM
Ive been wanting to make shoe for a while now, and decided to have a go at it:

These are made from $2.50 worth of black vinyl and $3 of black leather cord.  They are super comfortable and are great house shoes or grass shoes.  If you wear them outdoors, I would add an extra piece or two of vinyl epoxied to the bottom.

Step 1:
Out line your foot, adding 1/2 allowance

Step 2:
Then draw fingers from the widest part of your foot.  The length depends on how long your toes are.  I made them all around 2 long.

Step 3:
Then draw two sides and a triangle piece for the back.  Fold the vinyl towards your foot to see how tall or long or wide you want the back.

As you can see, I had to adjust my pattern:

Step 4:
I took eyelet pliers and punched a hole on each finger and 3 holes down the back flaps so they an be sewn together.

Step 5:
Take 12 of leather cord and string the fingers together, starting in the center and working out.

When you strung them all, pull the cord and watch the finger gather into a cute flower.  I tied mine in a knot so I wouldnt have 2 strings to tie every time I put the shoes on.

Step 6:
With 6 of cord. sew the back flaps together and tie in a knot.  You can start at the top or bottom,  I tied mine like a sneaker.

Step 7:
Put the shoe on.  You will see the sides flare out a bit.  Punch holes on the sides and tie another cord for your shoe lace.  Everything should be snug.

Enjoy making your own shoes!

They can be made out of any material and is great for costumes.  You can use ribbon, yarn...endless possibilities!

Thank you!
