11  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Funny on: January 31, 2005 12:23:06 PM
Stolen from LJ Crochet and photoshopped to take the chick's name out...

To prepare for Christmas next year, I'm starting a craftalong unswap so we can all work on crafts throughout the next year. Work on your projects throughout the year, and keep them for Christmas, so you won't be stuck without a gift for aunt Sally. Every month is themed, although you can feel free to subsitute, although it'd be cooler if you didn't.

Here are the themes...

JAN  Scarves/Hats
FEB  Ornaments
MAR Blankets
APR Decopage
MAY Book/Journal
JUN Candles
JUL Bedding (embroider, make pillows, etc.)
AUG Jewelry/Book Thongs
SEP  Jordy/Messenger Bags
OCT  Clothing Iron-On/Stencil/Screen Print/Dye
NOV Soap
DEC Magnets

You must post at least once a month with progress, and pics of your finished projects would be cool, too.

Anyone who wants to join the Craftalong Unswap, email [email protected] . Thanks!

Sign up each month will close on the 15th for that month. Feel free to sign up after the 15th, but you should wait until the beginning of the next month to start crafting.

C'mon peeps! Don't go through this last minute, "I've got 20 scarves left to knit" craziness next year!
13  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / "I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year" Craftalong on: December 15, 2004 08:14:01 AM
So I posted an idea I have to make a new gift for members of my family each month next year. One month I'd make scarves, one month soaps, etc. Any interest in joining me? The ideas I have so far are scarves (you can knit, crochet or make them from fleece), soaps, fleece blankets, and picture frames. I need suggestions for the other months. Then when Christmas rolls around, we'll have big boxes of completed crafts to give out to our loved ones and won't be so crazy during the holiday season. Sound fun to you?
14  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. on: December 14, 2004 01:14:09 PM

Anyway, because I am sick to freaking death of the last minute running and going crazy over Christmas, I've decided that next year's resolution is that I will make gifts all year long for next year. I want to make one per month (scarfs in January, picture frames in Feb or whatever) but I'm not sure what to make. I need some ideas. And they have to be unisex. Any ideas? Scarfs are def in there.
15  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Fabric help on: December 06, 2004 12:44:46 PM
So I'm making a white fabric cover for my ottoman. Problem? Black shed-happy dog. Any fabric suggestions that fur may not cling to? Trust me, this dog sheds like she got into my mom's chemo pills. Thanks in advance.
16  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Supply Swap? on: November 10, 2004 10:16:42 AM
So I'm looking through my craft storage box this week and I have LOTS of supplies that I'll never use. Things like eyelets and paint and purse handles. I was wondering if anyone else had supplies they bought then didn't use (and didn't see themselves using them in the future) that they'd like to swap? If I get enough positive feedback, I'll organize a swap.

Not sure if this has been posted before, but I just found this...

18  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Vegas-y bedroom? on: August 11, 2004 02:19:48 PM
So I'm about to do my spare room. I want a vintage vegas feel, which (I thought) meant red walls, lots of velvet, pics of Rat Pack and maybe that playing card shade in another thread here. However, I found this fabric...

...and I think it would be great as curtains. It's kinda loud, but I also like the pink in it (and I found some rocking cool pink glitter that I'd like to spray paint an old TV with). And I'm thinking the pink walls might be loud, but with the loud curtains, they may mute each other out (a little). Still like the Rat Pack pics and things like that. But now I'm having problems thinking of other accessories that are vintage vegas PLUS will fit in a pink room.

Any ideas?
19  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Stained Glass for mosaic? on: July 26, 2004 10:23:12 AM
I want to make a mosaic on top of my bedside table, but I'm having problems finding tile that will do with the rooom. I've tried china from the thrift store as well, but again, no go. I'm thinking of using stained glass because of it's color and pretty swirl look. Anyone have any opinions on this, or has anyone tried it?

20  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / I suck with exacto knives on: May 17, 2004 08:15:56 AM
Ok, I've tried repeatedly to make stencils. I've tried with contact paper. I've tried with stencil plastic. I've decided I suck with exacto knives.

I need tips, please. Do you move the knife or the stencil when you're cutting? I've found that moving the stencil is easier, but the stencil still comes out looking like eight forms of hell.

Oh and I should probably mention the only things I've tried to stencil were words.
