1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Homemade Cabinet/Sink Top on: January 30, 2008 10:15:12 AM
Since he won't do it himself, thought I'd share my fella's latest crafty feat...  He built this awesome little cabinet and sink top for the half bathroom in his house... We collaborated on the design, but he made it happen!

He grouted little river rocks onto the sink top he made - I think it looks like something straight out of Martha Stewart Living!  Smiley

He's so modest... but this rocks and I just had to share!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Mosaic End Table on: September 08, 2007 09:47:58 AM
A couple weeks ago, the girls I get crafty with got together for Mosaic Day!  We all brought old plates to smash up to make our mosaic tiles.

Here's my finished project - I found the table and the plates I smashed up at a local thrift shop.  I was going for Super 70's Fabulousness... thus the yellows, browns and oranges!

Thanks for lookin!  Smiley
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Blue Sky Hat on: September 04, 2007 09:05:33 AM
Finished this in July and forgot to post it Smiley  It's from the Blue Sky Hats pattern by the faboo Amy Butler.  I added a chin strap to keep it from flying off my noggin when canoeing/kayaking and Scotch-Guarded the heck out of it.

Thanks for lookin!

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Clapotis finit! on: October 19, 2006 10:28:01 AM

The infamous clapotis!  I finally got around to making one.  Smiley

I spun some worsted weight yarn out of a loverly tussah silk roving I dyed in shades of pink.  I am pretty pleased with the finished product!  (soft and bunky!)
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Not That Anyone Wants to See Anther iPod Cozy, but.... on: June 02, 2006 09:08:13 PM
Here it is anyway!

The case:

With an inner cozy all quilted up nice:

And a hole for the cord because it is soooo annoying when there isn't one!

With a nice snug strap so I can take my music walking, hiking, dancing while I do the dishes....

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Red Hot Somewhat Cowl on: February 26, 2006 06:22:36 PM
Posted a pic in the SC knitalong as well  Smiley  I guess I really want to share!

Red Hot Somewhat Cowl, http://knitandtonic.typepad.com/knitandtonic/2005/12/the_somewhat_co.html
size: 36" bust
yarn: Blue Sky Alpacas Alpaca Silk in tomato, almost 6 skeins (one and a quarter skeins less than what was called for!)
needles: addi turbo circ's, sizes US4 & 5

Well, golly - I really kinda wish I had added some waist shaping, but I'm pretty happy with the outcome overall. It is a little on the big side, but fits at the bust just perfectly. I think if I were to make another, I'd join the body a bit earlier to keep the sleeves a bit closer to the 'pits and see how much that would effect the bust area - and add some waist shaping so it would be a little more sex kitten-ish. Smiley

But it's still red hot, damnit! And it's gotten a lot of wear recently.  Smiley

9  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Freshly Dyed Roving on: February 20, 2006 05:51:39 PM
Okay, so it's not spun yet - but I really wanted to share!

My sister and I set up our own little dyeing studio this weekend and tested out our 18 colors (12 basic Lanaset colors and 6 we blended ourselves) on smallish pieces of roving.  Here are our results!

Turns out dyeing as addictive as spinning.  Uh oh.   Grin
10  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Cayman on: February 06, 2006 04:29:44 PM
I recently got a lesson in dyeing roving using Lanaset dyes - I AM HOOKED!

Here's the roving:

And the subsequent yarn:

It reminds me of blue green water lapping up on a white sand beach.  *drool*  Thus the name...
