1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Bright Eyes Bag on: September 10, 2006 04:55:20 PM
This is a bag I made for a Bright Eyes swap a while ago. The organizer (who was also my partner) flaked out, but I sent before I realized she was a total flaker, which is a bummer. I wanted to keep it really bad (and I probably could have if I'd waited a bit longer). Oh well. Maybe I'll make another one some day.

The lyrics are from Arc Of Time (Time Code). The chalk outline is stitched, the words are white fabric paint, and the bag itself is made out of felt and lined with black cotton fabric. The handle is from a stretchy shirt I found at the dump, as well as the pocket. We have a place at our dump where you can bring things you don't want anymore, like clothes, books, toys, etc. It's such a great place to find stuff to recon.

Anyway, that's the bag I made. I had just learned how to use the sewing machine, so it's one of the very few things I've ever sewn using it. I'm pretty proud of the way it came out. (:
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / dollar store swap on: August 01, 2005 01:38:23 PM
inspired by the dollar store challenge, I think it would be a neat idea to do a swap where everything you use to make the craft has to be bought from the dollar store, I don't know if there should be a budget or not, maybe five or ten dollars (not including tax, tax is lame and doesn't count)...the only thing is, I don't think I'd want to be swap organizer, cause I'm REALLY busy lately. If someone else would like to be the organizer, that'd be cool, cause I think this could be a really cool swap!

Comments, please!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / shirt purse on: May 17, 2005 01:09:45 PM
I was thinking about making a purse out of this shirt I have, but I'm not really sure what to do with it...I don't know if I should use the collar or not, I think it'd be neat...

and to be honest, I don't really know how to make purses...could someone point me in the right direction?

Here's a pic of me in the shirt, if you have any suggestions let me know
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Putting a picture on a tote bag on: May 02, 2005 09:02:09 AM
I'm not very good at sewing, so is there anyway to put a piece of fabric onto a bag without sewing? Like applique (I think that's how you spell it)? Except I don't know what applique means...please help...I'm really at a loss here. Is there some kind of iron on stuff I can use?

Argh...anyone with an answer...I'd really appreciate it.
5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Death Dolls on: April 25, 2005 09:13:10 AM
I recently started taking out my frustrations on dolls that I buy for about 50 cents each at the thrift store, and turning them into things I call Death Dolls. They're kinda sick and twisted, but I like 'em 'cause they're a part of me...

I'm really not adept at sewing, so all I've done so far is color them with permanent markers and cut them up, but I think someday I might take a needle to 'em.

So far I have: Murderin' Melinda, Head Trauma Henry, Paper Shredder Polly, Miscarriage Molly, Child Abuse Charlotte, and Debbie Death, who's like the mother off all the dolls and has the most Barbie-like body...

I know they're very disturbing sounding but trust me, I don't do this kind of stuff all the time...it's literally just therapy for me.

That's Murderin' Melinda, Head Trauma Henry, and Paper Shredder Polly

The Debbie Death picture didn't turn out too well, but I really like her...she's all black...and she's the kind of doll where you can make her pony tail long or short...

They look really sick in the pictures, but they're rather bright and cheerful in person I swear...
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Permanent Markers on: April 13, 2005 10:35:56 AM
I decorated a couple of T-Shirts with variously colored permanent markers, and the one I washed kind of bled all over the place, except it didn't exactly bleed, it just kind of made spots and marks all over the rest of the shirt...but the black was the only thing that seemed okay...are there any kind of colorful markers I can use that won't bleed?

By the way, just to sort of introduce my "style", I do things about "emo", which is a kind of music, and style as well...[sensitive, deep, and a lot of Converse...) I'm obsessed with emo boys...anyways, I like to make shirts and such with my signature "Emo Love" on them, with fancy and funny little quotes on the backs...so yeah, that's me...

Anyhoo, if anyone has any help for me on this marker problem: PLEASE HELP!
