1  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Re: Vintage/Handmade boutiques in australia? on: February 04, 2010 07:10:36 PM
I don't think you said which city you are in.

In Melbourne there are some great shops in an underground arcade. You can access them from Flinders St, it used to be the underground access to the train station.
It's called Degraves St (or Degraves Arcade).
I got into a conversation with one of the shop owners and he asked if I made stuff and showed me some skirts made with vintage fabrics and said he's looking for stuff to sell.

: )

I don't have much info to add, except to say that I have some wooden spools and I love them. i've only got 3.

They might become more valuable in time as they could be counted as ephemera (ie, things that people usually throw away, like bus tickets).

Aside from monetary value, I think these are a great thing to collect.

I tried to sign up but it didn't work.
I'll keep an eye on what's happening though.

8  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Re: Anyone From Armidale? on: September 30, 2009 10:11:06 AM
Are you from Armidale in Melbourne? (I'm not sure if there is an Armidale in other states).

I suggest giving it to a neighbourhood house or one of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centres, there's on in Thornbury and one in Footscray. I'm sure there would be plenty of community organisations that would love to have it.

Good luck, Kim.

I'm interested.

Some friends and I may be starting a craft group in the Brunswick/Fitzroy area. Probably on weekends. Let me know if any of you are still interested.

Are you still looking for someone?

I have a friend who is working as a pattern cutter, who may be interested.
