1  Harry Potter mandrake baby swaddler in Crochet: Completed Projects by dooney on: December 06, 2018 07:38:46 PM

My cousin loves Harry Potter and just had a baby (girl!) so I made her a little swaddler set. I couldn't find a pattern I liked so I made one up. Then I printed a label I found online onto an iron-on paper and put it on a onesie.

2  Viking baby set in Crochet: Completed Projects by dooney on: July 16, 2016 03:25:54 PM
I made these for my friends' new baby. The flail has a little bell in the ball part. I pretty much made them as I went along, except I did follow a pattern for the horns.

4  Squid launcher-- OH YEAH! in Halloween Costumes by dooney on: October 29, 2011 10:00:42 PM
"You ever seen one of these? No you haven't. I invented it."

My 2yo is always doing Vector's little "oh yeah" and the dance, so I decided to make him a Vector costume for Halloween.

Believe it or not, the pants and jacket each used to be a pair of youth 2XL swim trunks Smiley The launcher is a toy ball shooter painted white, inside a Method antibacterial wipes container and I made the squid too! I was all over town looking for a squid toy and finally just made it myself and I'm super happy with how it turned out.

5  Hippos and her diaper logo for my friend in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by dooney on: July 05, 2011 06:59:09 PM
My friend loves hippos. I googled hippo clip art, cute hippo, hippopotamus clip art, etc and these were my three favorites. I couldn't decide which to do so I did them all. I was sooooo mad at that diagonal line in the top one. I haven't carved in ages and I think the carving block was sitting at an angle on top of something else in my supply drawer and it dented it. I didn't notice until I tried to do my first print with it. I hope she likes it anyway. (PS I did go back and clean those extraneous lines up a little more after this pic was taken)

She makes cloth diapers and this is her logo. It stands for Fluffy Butt Club.

I do a lot of crafty stuff but I think carving is my absolute favorite right now.

6  Re: Amigurumi Addiction Tiny Edition in The Swap Gallery by dooney on: November 07, 2010 02:38:45 PM
I received from RhymeswOrange yesterday but only stopped by the mailbox this morning (our mail gets delivered to a box down the street). And because we live so far away from my parents and haven't been sending them pictures ever since my 21mo broke the camera, they bought us a new one, so I got to try it out today!
Here's everything:

A crab for my 3yo, who's been asking me for a crab ever since he watched the Wonder Pets Save the Fiddler Crab, and I could never find a good pattern he liked. AND for accessories, a mallet and lemon half, so funny! We've never actually eaten crab but Kalten loves smacking him and squeezing the lemon to make dinner.

His expression - priceless

Stealin my candy

His cute belly - his legs have some kind of wire in them, right? He's poseable!

Goodies for me! Toblerone, an eyeball pincushion from my Etsy favorites (I don't know if I'll be able to actually stick pins in it!), and an ergonomic crochet hook. Thanks so much for everything, RhymeswOrange!

7  Little candy w/pattern (my first!) in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by dooney on: October 02, 2010 07:23:55 PM

Click that pic ^ to go to the full post
So I got it in my head that I needed to make an apple with a razorblade in it for a Halloween decoration. Then it grew from there, and this little guy was born.

He's pretty simple, and would be cute in a candy dish in pastel colors with white twisty paper things for salt-water taffy
(and without the needle, obviously)
I used an F hook and sport-weight yarn because that's what I had on hand. I would've gone down a hook size or used thicker yarn if I could have. Let me know if I haven't done this right, it's my first pattern.
Twisty papers (make 2)
R1: Magic circle 6 sc (6) (leave a long tail on your mc for sewing on)
R2: *sc inc, sc 2* twice (Cool
R3: *sc inc, sc 3* twice (10)
R4: *sc inc, sc* around (15)
R5: *sc inc, sc 2* around (20)
FO, weave end in, set aside.
Main part
R1: Magic circle 6 sc (6)
R2: *sc inc* around (12)
R3: *sc inc, sc* around (18)
R4: *sc inc, sc 2* around (24)
R5: In back loops only, sc around (24)
R6-10: sc 24
R11: In back loops only, *sc2tog, sc2* around (18)
Embroider/attach face, sew on twisty papers (seriously, what ARE those called?), stuff almost to top.
R12: *sc2tog, sc* around (12)
Finish stuffing.
R13: *sc2tog* around
FO, weave in end, scrunch twisties to look natural.

8  Tricky Treats! in Halloween Decor and Parties by dooney on: October 02, 2010 05:59:39 PM
This, my friends, is why we inspect our treats before we eat them.

Simple apple, from Amigurumi World, Sculpey III razorblade, Superglue.

One of those peanut butter taffy candies that nobody really likes, Sculpey needle.

Um, excuse me!

Little prop thief

The pb taffy was my first self-designed pattern & I'm pretty happy with it.

Notice there's almost no candy left...

9  Anyone else have a feline yarn tensioner? in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by dooney on: October 01, 2010 06:00:58 PM
Here's my kitty, Handsome Rob - or more commonly Rob the Blob, setting the tension for my yarn.

It's hard crocheting with a toddler using my arm for a headrest, he's so kind to offer to help me out. Unfortunately he adds a few of his own "fibers" to the yarn, and occasionally flosses as it passes by his face.

10  Re: TTTPT Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by dooney on: October 01, 2010 05:30:50 PM
Yaaay, I received today! Sorry for the crap pics, my good camera was thrown across the room a few too many times by my 20-month-old, so I have to use my cell. And because I can't find the adapter to upload from the tiny card, I have to text them to facebook (and explain to all my friends what they are and what everything means and what is Discworld and who is Terry Pratchett), save them onto the computer, and then upload them to craftster!

Here's everything, an amaaaazing cross-stitch, a hand-carved golem stamp, stickery bonus, and it was all wrapped up in an owl Halloween bandanna!

The stitches are so tiny! And I love the tiny cabbages, too perfect!

I wish you could see how incredibly detailed this is.

And my very own golem! I will be stamping him (it, lol) everywhere!

It's funny, when we were assigned partners I remarked at how similar we were, and then we go and send each other very similar stuff (a stamp and a stamp!) but we still had totally different ideas.

Thanks so much, millik!
