1  My Simple A Line Ultra Flattering Pillowcase skirt idea in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by Jasmine_xoxo on: March 17, 2006 10:58:16 PM

2 matching pillow cases
Elastic for the waistband - the type that lays flat
Matching thread

First cut open one side seam (if there are 2) and the top seam. Lay the pillowcase flat and iron to remove that pesky middle wrinkle.

Measure your waist and widest hip point (and the length and bottom width of your favorite skirt).

Halve the waist, hip and length measurements and add seam allowance and room for ease. I typically start big and then go smaller as I fit it.

Fold the pillowcase in half and then take and pen (yes a pen!!!) and a straight ruler and draw a line from the bottom (wide hem, lace, whatever) to the top - starting at the widest point at bottom and gradually moving in to that waist measurement....making sure the hip portion never goes below your halved hip size (50" hip would be about 29" to start and then work down).

So someone with a 42" waist would start with 21" + 4" then work from there. I put tiny dots at each edge of the waist measurement on the fabric so I have a spot to draw to.

Make 2 and then sew from bottom (natural hem from the pillow case edging) to the top. Try on and adjust sizing. Once you are happy with it fold over the top and stitch a casing for the elastic. Add elastic and close. Voila you have a wash and wear skirt that can go from hamper to washer to dryer to work.
Please let me know if I wasn't clear enough. This my first tut.

2  Yet another *yawn* Pillowcase Skirt... in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Jasmine_xoxo on: January 22, 2006 10:27:42 PM
I bought this as part of a teen sheet set from Target. It was 20$ for a full that came with top and bottom sheet and 2 pillowcases.
Here is the pillow case converted into a skirt.

PS apologies for the pic quality - tis why I was fearful of posting this!
