My mother and I went to Ikea yesterday to buy a couch and I practically RAN to get this fabric as soon as I got there.

I was like I saw it online I MUST have it!

drafting from the jeans I laid them down and drew the pattern from the back of them. It's just the same piece four times. I made the pattern by folding it in half and tracing the shape of the back leg (the high part, not the low front) I then straightened the curves out of them (skiinny leg jeans) made them wider sailor type legs. just straight lights from the line of the crutch.

These are pants I made. They're a slight replication of a pair of Stop Staring pants, but I made them.. longer and did the cuffs differently and without darts. ( haven't got that far yet!). I drafted the pattern myself off a pair of jeans but it involved a fair bit of seam adjusting. I'd made them too tight around the hips!

But here they are!

Action Shot!

I adore them!

The pattern and everything was made by myself! (bar the belt actually My mother made that It's off my formal dress!).

I'm going to change the skirt though, chop the hem from a handkerchief bottom as they don't suit me to a simple, circular skirt base. No side seems though!

There's so much gathering at the waist because stupid me cut the whole FAR to wide because I still hadn't got the hang of cutting the circle hole.

The fabric for this dress I found on the discount table at Spotlight (Australian craft store) for 2 dollars a meter. The top I modified a butterick pattern to make it a bit more fitted and rounded the neckline but the skirt was merely pleated and sewn.

I love it. It's sooo twirly, I haven't had a chance to wear the other one out yet. I'm a bit iffy on wearing my own sewing (yet I find it hard to sew for anyone else).

Soo whaddaya think?

Please excuse the icky pink/orange shade of my hair. It needs retouching.

You know, I actually have this jacket now, I'd gotten it on sale a while back and forgot to post.  I'll have my daughter take good pictures of it so that you can see the detail.  I'm pretty sure anyone with some sewing talent can alter a blazer/jacket pattern to add the details and flourishes.

OOooh please do. I really really want to make this as well. and the detailing is my big thing.I ant those to look right.

I told my family i as wearing RED! and vintage style and dad organised the car without telling me what it was. I had no idea what it would be like until it turned up on the day!

The whole night as amazing. We do formal a bit different over here. We have cocktails with family and friends (You can bring up to 10 people withyou at our school) and then we all get up behind stage and walk down (announced as couples) a catwalk in front of all the guests (about a thousand).

Then we go over to the place (drive over) and have the big dinner with us and our parents (not much dancing). I organised the whole night and it was just amazing. Black and silver decorations and balloons, fairy lights. Amazing

I totally adore the dress and anything fifty's style. It's just so classy and classic that it stands out in today's clothes.

Which Tafe are you studying at in brisbane?

I applied for Fashion at QUT and didn't end up getting in (blessing in disguise) and am doing Law/Arts at UQ. (turn around eh.) starting in a few weeks.
