1  Sailors shorts - SaskySaves Style in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by knittingonskates on: February 10, 2007 03:46:31 PM
These are pants I made. They're a slight replication of a pair of Stop Staring pants, but I made them.. longer and did the cuffs differently and without darts. ( haven't got that far yet!). I drafted the pattern myself off a pair of jeans but it involved a fair bit of seam adjusting. I'd made them too tight around the hips!

But here they are!

Action Shot!

I adore them!

2  Liquid Silk Cocktail Dress , Flowery Party Dress - Sasky Saves Designs in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by knittingonskates on: February 05, 2007 10:21:13 PM

The pattern and everything was made by myself! (bar the belt actually My mother made that It's off my formal dress!).

I'm going to change the skirt though, chop the hem from a handkerchief bottom as they don't suit me to a simple, circular skirt base. No side seems though!

There's so much gathering at the waist because stupid me cut the whole FAR to wide because I still hadn't got the hang of cutting the circle hole.

The fabric for this dress I found on the discount table at Spotlight (Australian craft store) for 2 dollars a meter. The top I modified a butterick pattern to make it a bit more fitted and rounded the neckline but the skirt was merely pleated and sewn.

I love it. It's sooo twirly, I haven't had a chance to wear the other one out yet. I'm a bit iffy on wearing my own sewing (yet I find it hard to sew for anyone else).

Soo whaddaya think?

Please excuse the icky pink/orange shade of my hair. It needs retouching.

3  Re: Promalong - Making your own Prom dress? Join the club! in Clothing Sewalongs by knittingonskates on: January 25, 2007 04:01:28 AM
WE had our Prom (formal we call it) In October last year! and I've beeen meaning to share pictures but graduating has kept me occupied (Australia!) and lots of sewing during the holidays.

I wanted something completely fifties, and that fitted well with my Dita Von Teese Love, and white skin dark hair. Red was of course the colour to pick, and initially we planned to go with a sequined bodice with a circular skirt(picture at the base of post). But luckily we didn't and my mother and I found the most amaaaaazing pattern. (well one that I adored.) and then modified it slightly. Between my mother and I we created the dress (I did all the cutting and pinning but wasn't allowed to touch the sewing. *makes face* expensive fabric)

The shoessssss are the best!

the very dishy boy I took (and he danced so well toooo)

The First Dress we were going to replicate

I have a few other prop type dresses i've sewn floating around my cupboard that I shall get around to finding pics of and sharing.

4  Yarrrgh. It be a fully costumed Pirate Family! in Costumes: Completed Projects by knittingonskates on: January 06, 2007 05:30:01 PM
Last night was a friends 21st birthday with a Pirate and Wenches theme and I being dutiful daughter I am went on a sewing frenzy to make sure we were costumed.

I made the black and white furry pants my father is wearing as well as the red .. (thing) that covers his chest. On my mother I made the red corset belt and the petticoat she has underneath it. My brothers costume we bought from Spotlight fully made! And my costume..

Wheeh.. this one took me two days. It's a white strapless dress with puffy skirt and a few layers of lace sewn across the top. The jacket is a knee length fitted red jacket cut so it doesn't go all the way together, and it laces up the front with silver stripes and buttons. There's also silver stripes on the shoulders. The white arm thingies are detachable because i plan to wear the jacket elsewhere.

All costumes were created from patterns I drafted. Took me two or three days to finish it all!

But YAGH. Best pirate family ever. we even had an inflatable pirate chest.
but excuse my cacky blonde hair and my angry expression!

5  Costumes from my Musical "The Wiz" [Image Heavy like woah!] in Costumes: Completed Projects by knittingonskates on: August 30, 2005 05:53:19 PM
Well our school musical "The Wiz" was about 3 weeks ago and finalyl i've got a chance to upload and share the photos of the costumes.

Many i helped make by sequinning braiding, fitting or... in a few cases helping design and research.. so there are a fair few photos and i'll talk ya through what they all are!

The Tornado... all were dressed in full lycra "spandex" body suits with either sashes or waist bands of fabric strips. Yes the girls are on pointe. Good for a school musical eh? girls on pointe.

The Munchkins.. We've all just climbed out of a graffit wall after beign stuck for years! We had so much fun spray painting all those costumes!

Possibly the cutest costume ever. I helped a lot designing this one. Stefani anyone! She's Addapearle The feel Good girl!

Dorothy and the scare crow in front of his stick. The scarecrows costume was very layered. Orange carpet almost felt waist coat, bright yellow cord jacket and yes that is news paper stapled to him.

Dorothy, the scare crow and the crows.. this is one of the final dress rehearsels so the crows werent fully costumed yet. later on they had black pointed beaked and feather masks and black gloves with feathers on the ingers. y favourite costumes!

Our version of the yellow brick road. black clothes yellow saftey and hard hats.taps

The Tin man, Ended up also with silver knee and elbow pads... awesome costume!

Lion! The suit was an entire fur body suit with a seperate head piece that wrapped around and furry mitten gloves. So hot. Like a suana for the poor guy!

Woo! Skanky poppies. Very stretchy fabric that made us all look incredibly frumpy... waist coasts, flares, bright shirts beeads head bands. I'm the one in the pink and purple right off the end there.. left side.

Emerald city citizens... I told my dad to look for me as the one in the green. A hell of a lot of green sequins and awesome head pieces.

The wizard... The coat was realyl awesome had swirly shiney print on it very cosmic and check out the dancing girls!

These girls were by far the most popular part of the show with the male audience. sequined full body suits. did a bit of repair on these keep in the sequins on one of the girls a dancer her mum had them all.

EVILEENE! The evil witch of the west!

Evileene and the Lord High Underling - The LHU's entire acting direction was act gay. he was oiled with baby oil and glitter man! he stole the show not bad for a distrcit representitive for football.

Evileene and the messenger. THem essenger's costume under neath was a black tunic, black stockers and a double layerd waist band with strips like a roman soldier! IT's me!!! The nearly concussed me the second night.

Evil monkey's.! Winged monkey.s purple faux leather pants and jackets with fur and sequin strips and hideous wigs. awesome with attitude.

Free Winkies! So hapyp and shiney!!!!!!! We previously had on brown jumpsuits and full like mid back length wigs made out of fabric and thread each took 4 hours to make and they made 46 and we also had brown masks all very drab and dreary

The wiz's awesome flight suit. I believe they might have put mor esequins on it after that. It had to be shiney!!!

Brookes Dress! So beautiful one of the girls um gave it to us and i did repairs on the sequins.

And last of all Whole cast photo!

Thats our show Ig uess! BYE!
