1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Our First Christmas ornament on: December 24, 2010 05:34:18 AM
I wasn't happy with any of the "our first christmas" ornaments that I found in the stores, so I went to this little ceramics place down the street to paint my own. My husband is Australian and this is his first Christmas, not only with me but in the US. One side of the ornament is painted with the Australian flag and the other with the US flag. I think it came out really well!

2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / 50 Harry Potter wands on: October 24, 2009 09:22:18 PM
My sister's best friend throws a big Halloween whodunnit every year at his house. This year he decided on a Harry Potter theme and asked for volunteers to roleplay, decorate or do anything they could to help out. Since I have zero acting skills, I thought my talents would be best put to use making props and decorations. I decided that every witch and wizard needed a wand for the evening and found a tute online that shows you how to make them out of paper, hot glue and paint. So! Fifty wands later I can feel the carpal tunnel setting in, and I don't have any fingerprints anymore because of the hot glue gun, but it was so worth it! Not one is alike as they are all different "woods", lengths, thicknesses and magical ingredients!

3  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Tiger shirt for Spirit Day! on: September 14, 2007 06:36:56 AM
My son's school mascot is a tiger and every Friday they ask the kids to wear one of the school t-shirts or to at least wear orange and black.  I stenciled this up so that he could be different and still have a wicked cool shirt to wear for Spirit Day!

A close-up of the stencil.  I was going for that vintage look so some of the stencil isnt' filled in all the way.

Thanks for looking!
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Flannel baby blankets on: September 09, 2007 06:43:29 PM
Thanks to amemm for inspiring me to do some flannel blankets!  The purple butterfly one went to my friend in Nebraska who gave birth to her baby girl one week before I did.  The pink froggy blankie I kept for us.   Grin

5  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Garden fairy quilt for my baby's room on: September 09, 2007 06:33:30 PM
Inspired by a set of garden fairy wallies, I present my first quilt ever!

Close up of the edge, I love the lace.

And a close up of the fairies and flowers, done by my friend Shannon.  She used the actual wallies and used carbon paper to transfer the image on to the different fabrics.  The hair and facial features of the faires are embroidered and there are little flower accents on both.  The wings are my favorite part...

Thank you for looking!
6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Need a....dome...(?) pattern on: February 23, 2006 08:37:17 PM
Hello everyone.

I'm interested in making a plushie shaped like the picture below.  I'd like him to be round and able to sit on his bottom, but I'm having trouble figuring out the pattern.  How would I make a "dome" shape like that?

Thanks for looking.   Grin
7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Napoleon again...my first stencil on: April 03, 2005 02:44:56 PM
I know, everyone is doing these.  But I don't think it's too bad for a beginner.
