...and these are the fabulous (and much0needed) moth-repellent sachets that ruby tuesday sent me:

they look beautiful but smell even better!

what a stylish way to keep my scarves from being devoured.

and they came at a perfect time as i am packing away my clothes for my time away from toronto tonight!

thank you so much ruby tuesday!

no way!

i've been wisted! how flattering.

but i should give credit where credit is due. the mechanics of making journals like that were taught to me by leah buckareff of the coldsnap bindery (who also leads the church of craft here in toronto). she also made me a special little hole-punching apparatus for binding my most recent zine that i used to make the journal. leah's cool.

here are some other pictures i took:

...i also got some beautiful moth repellent sachets from ruby tuesday today and will do my best to photograph them before the sun goes down today.

i got my amazing package from serialdeviant today, check this out!

it's a little teeny tiny eyeball-face guy! so amazing!

she also included a chinese red ink pad (i think for stamping chops) but my pictures of that didn't really turn out. it's great! i even have my own chop from childhood days in a chinese calligraphy class (isn't that great?)

anyway, thank you so much, serialdeviant! as if getting a package from china was not cool enough, the contents were amazing.

the little amigurumi dude is so well made and perfectly small.  i'm going to take this guy on my travels with me all summer!

hey everyone!

look what i got in the mail yesterday from k8kre8s:

a business card holder and other assorted goodies!

here is a picture of the screenprinted patches she included (the card holder is there, too but it is standing up and completely in shadow.) aren't these great?

and here is the outside of the holder. oooh, institutional chic

and the inside...

and here's and action shot:

i love it so much! i feel so prepared to be out in the world as an independent business lady.

ps - so glad you enjoyed your buttons, quincy134. they were a lot of fun to fiddle with and make.

6  Re: BIRTHDAY MONTH SWAP -- February -- in The Swap Gallery by sweetie pie press on: March 01, 2006 08:24:24 PM
hooray! you got a picture up.

thank you.

and thank you so much for making such an amazing birthday gift for me! i don't know if people realize quite how big it is. the eyeball is almost the size of a football! and the optic nerve tissue is all stretchy and great!

isn't that keen?

thanks again!

Sweetie pie press got her package, and told me that her camera is not cooperating, so I am posting the pictures.  She wanted a subversive stuffie, and suggested an eyeball, and I happily obliged!!!

I made the eyeball out of craft felt.  I used a fancy stitch on my sewing machine to give it bloodshot eyes, handsewed the iris and pupil on (complete with a light reflection!), and knit the optic nerve and attached it.  Somewhere under all that optic nerve is a Zanti Miss Knit Creation label.

I was originally going to put googly eyes on the iris, because I thought that light reflection on the pupil looked like a tooth (making the pupil look like a mouth), but I decided that it was cute enough as-is.

I will try to post other pics to my blog, as I have a huge blog entry on the agenda.

i recieved two birthday wishes from lexbean plus lots of extra surprise goodies.

i had wished for candles and a zipper pouch.

take a look at what she plied me with...

look at all those extra goodies - hand creams, mini bath bombs, a tiny 'free to be you and me' book!

isn't that amazing? as an added bonus, i think the zipper pouch is made from a recycled usps mailer or something. i love artful reusing projects and this really impressed me.

thank you so much, lexbean!

you really made my birthday in an otherwise drab canadian month.

and here is the apron!

racehorse87 made the mistake of asking me what i wanted and i sent her this insane wishlist of apron features and they are all there! a snappy loop for keys! a zipper pocket! a snappy pocket! bows! pen pockets!

check this out:

isn't it amazing?

oh, and as for your conecerns that i might not like pink and/or gingham. everyone in the world may not want to pull that kind of style off but i, for one, think pink gingham may just be the best invention ever. better than the wheel!

thank you so much for spoiling me, racehorse87!

this is turning into my best birthday ever!

i got my amazing package from racehorse87 yesterday.

she granted both my wishes for this swap, a paint brush roll-up and an apron.

here are the pictures of the paint brush roll-up:

isn't it just lovely? she took my love of western things and picked out this lovely horseshoe batik fabric with a mild holly hobby type floral. the fabrics are so lovely, and so lovely together. my hippy adolescence left me totally grossed out by tie dye and batik but this fabric really works for me. you have changed my fabric prejudices, racehorse87!

look at all my happy brushes in there!

...apron pictures coming next...

and happy election day!
