1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / gay altered book help on: December 17, 2005 05:33:04 PM
For christmas, I wanted to make one of my good friends an altered board book (you know, the little ones they have for little kids so they don't ruin them?) with all sorts of pictures of gay guys, love and such. I need some help with pictures, though. They can be animated (anime, or sem. from comics or such are his favorite), real, whatever. Would prefer to keep most of the images clean since, i too am gay and don't exactly want to see two guys getting it on, and plus, he's not even seventeen yet. Anything....hrm...tastefully suggestive?...would work though. He doesn't like...slutty things. He loves things he can find beautiful.

Any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appriciated. help me make this boy happy for christmas!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / painting a cork board? on: December 17, 2005 05:23:55 PM
Has anyone tried it? I have this huge half cork board/half white board thing...i want to paint the wood edge, which I know will work, but what about the cork? Has anyone tried? I'm sure it would work, but with my mother, she encourages my creativity but if I ruin something, all hell breaks loose....plus i love my cork/dry-erase board and would hate to mess it up somehow.
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / What to get/make a special girl when... on: December 08, 2005 04:18:04 PM
..you're wanting to ask her out?

Backstory- I'm Annelise, I have a good friend named Autumn. I want to get/make her a really awesome present. I'm kinda stumped for ideas, becuase I really want her to love it. Not only because she is a good friend, but because I'm planning (planning is the key word here... Undecided) to ask her out after/during christmas break. I want her to love it. However, she gets really shy whenever people ask her what she wants, and is like I'LL LOVE ANYTHING!!!!
As a joke, i'm going to trash up a barbie (cut it's hair short, color it, give it scars) and use a beenie baby to give it a fur coat and a hat. (the most god aweful thing I could think of...i told her i was going to do something bad when she said she'd love anything...)
Okay. So. She loves anime, Jpop, french pop (pretty much any pop/dance/ect music in another language. English if it's REALLY cool), likes to draw but thinks she sucks at it, some dolls, DDR, ect. And random, general girl stuff. She wears jewels next to her eyes, which sounds really tacky but it somehow looks cool on her. She did mention me making a cd of music i like....but my computer doesn't have a cd burner.  Angry
What should I do? It's not long until christmas, and I've got to do something quick. Any suggestions?
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Best teacher ever's birthday on: November 08, 2005 06:30:13 PM
I'm a junior in High school, and have had my english/humanities/newspaper teacher Ms. Peeples every year since I started. It's her..thirty something birthday on thursday, and i'm trying to think of something to make her. She the subjects above, is a liberal, a free-thinker, has a great sense of humour, leads the Amnesty International in our school, and a nifty sense of style (she'll go wearing two layered tee-shirts, jeans and pigtails one day, then a fancy skirt, top, and high heels the next). She likes gifts that are creative, and is a big believer in 'it's the thought that counts'. (one year, a friend gave her a spoon and she loved it. Another year, she wrote "why i love my daddy" in crayons as a 28 year old and gave it to him.) She's the best teacher and my role model, so I wanted to make sure i give her something nifty. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Sick and in an artsy mood. on: November 07, 2005 05:39:53 PM
Well. I had these pants that are a little too large, and i wanted to recon them. All I had done was put the lace on the knee. Yesterday while watching TV, I doodled the little robot and the hearts up top. Then, today, since I caught the flu, I was bored out of my mind. And thus, the pants were born.

Here the ART? stencil, the HATE stencil, which are both original. The Willy Wonka one is not; I can't remember where I got it. The willy wonka one bled, and it was really annoying (don't use printer paper to stencil, kids!) The HATE one bled too, but it looks good, I think.

It's a robot...I love him.

theres the whole thing. The writing on the bottom says "Body Facism. Celebrate all bodies. Stop the hate", has the corrent pronounciation of 'nuclear' (a knock on Bush), and at the bottom is says, "love is tender and knows no gender" but I'm not sure if you can see that.
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Not quite sure what to do... on: September 03, 2005 07:54:44 AM
Alright, well, I'm making a book of shadows/grimoire sort of deal. Since it's very personal, I want to personallize it, and I want it to have a three ring binder. But, I also need some way to keep my journals in it as well....I need a way for them not to fall out. For journals I often use comp. notebooks, handmade journals or the millions of journals people gave me (if you ever say "i like to write" you will get journals for every single birthday and christmas for the rest of your life)

I was thinking of ataching a bit of fabric around the binder, closing it up with a zipper, so that it creates a way for the journals and other stuff not to come out.....i'm not really sure.

Any ideas?
7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / The Freak on: August 28, 2005 09:45:34 AM
This is a collage I started yesterday...It's the first one I've ever created, and as art usually does, it created itself. It is titled 'The Freak', at first because it's what my parents affectionately nicknamed the big guy before anything else was done, and then because it fits with the theme of the collage.

As you can see, he's looking up at the flock of penguins, which are all the same, all flying togther. It's about the loneliness you feel when you're unique, and how sometimes you just wish you could be like everyone else.
8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / mission: mascarade/halloweenish party with no money. on: August 27, 2005 05:58:47 PM

I am having a halloween party. It will be awesome. Its the sort of party where you dress up, paint your face white, in classical goth. Now, I am sixteen. I have very little income. My friends i'm planning with are also about my age. so far, we know we will have fourty dollers. now, I can make that stretch (craftster has made me the queen of scavenging,) but I need to be uber organized and know EXACTLY what i'm doing. So, I need suggestions. We will need to spend money on food and decor. I also need to make my costume. Faces shall be painted white, top hats for the boys...ect. If anyone has any ideas, suggestions, comments, on ANYTHING (including links to clothing boards, ect.) please let me know.

here's some sites or things that we are drawing some inspiration from:

www.dresdendolls.com (lovely lovely band)

Anne Rice (books, and interview w/ a vampire movie)

Mulan Rouge (i KNOW i mispelled that.)

Alice in Wonderland (book)

it shall be lovely lovely lovely.

All i have to do is figure it out.

Thank you so much!
9  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Faery costume on: July 12, 2005 03:43:52 PM
Okay, I'm trying to be a faery for halloween. I'm poor, any money I bring in will have to go towards my costume for the upcoming renaissance faire.I've seen lots of stuff for wings and skirts, but I haven't seen anything to do for hair, shoes, or shirts. If anyone has any ideas, let me know.
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / pagan/wicca/ect. swap? on: July 06, 2005 08:22:21 PM
I know there was a similar swap a couple months ago, but I couldn't participate, and I was really sad about that. I was wondering if anyone who missed out on the first one, or just wanted to do it again, wanted to start another. I, however, am unable to organize  Sad First swap and all. Alright, if anyone has any suggestions, please fire away!
