3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Paper Shrinking on Scrabble Pendant on: November 18, 2009 08:17:56 PM
Hello, I tried making scrabble tile pendants with square pieces of wood instead of actual scrabble tiles. I used japanese paper, applied mod podge to the back to adhere it to the piece of wood, mod podge to the top, and then used DG3. They are not dry yet (I made them last night) but when I checked on them I noticed that the paper shrank.  Is this a problem with the paper, mod podge, or is it because I didn't use actual scrabble tiles?

any help is appreciated!

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: What can I knit with 100% acrylic yarn? on: May 06, 2007 07:58:15 AM
or for a little whimsy, you can give knitty's hallowig a try.  I bought bright pink a couple years ago to try it but I haven't done it.  I still think it is cool.

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Keeping the ears warm...with short hair... on: January 02, 2007 11:52:56 AM
As a person with short hair I can say that I would avoid Caliormetry at all costs.  It just seems too wide and I think un flattering.  A problem also arises when people with short hair try and tie something at the back of the neck - it always rolls up (or is it just my funny shapoed head?).

It is not knitting but grab a pair of earmuffs that go around the back of your head.  Your ears will be warm and hair undisturbed.
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: YOUR FAVORITE YARN???? on: December 29, 2006 08:13:03 AM
Plymouth Royal Bamboo yarn was wonderfully soft and rich looking.  I knit a baby hat out of it and had some left over I probably could have made a bootie (not 2).  Even better, it's sustainable!

Is this the yarn of the moment or what?  Their are so many FO's made out of this stuff.   Is it really that great?  And why?  I am so curious.
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: lost my mojo on: April 12, 2006 06:38:04 PM
i lost it too, it started with the knitting olympics - I didn't finish.  Then struggled to finish the Odessa from Magknits which I came to the conclusion that i really suck at hats. And now, i just don't want to start anything, despite the fact that I am surrounded by yarn.

my mojo is gone, you are not alone.

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Loop-d-Loop Octagon Purse on: February 10, 2006 09:26:32 PM
Has anyone tried the octagon purse from Loop-d-Loop?

I decided to make it for the Knitting Olympics and cast on at 2 today, and then cast on again, and now, things just don't seem quite right with the short rows.  Actually, I think I have the concept of short rows, I just don't understand the directions.

If anyone has tackled this one, and has any advice, I would appreciate it.
