471  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Invite your partner swap? on: April 10, 2006 11:02:51 AM
If you are a swapping addict, I'm sure you have a list of people that you would love to swap with. And when you see that they've signed up for the same swap as you, you hope that this will be the time you are partnered up. But it doesn't always work that way, does it?

What if there were a swap where you have to sign up as partners? i.e. if I want to swap with xxxxx, I would first pm her and see if she's game. If she is, then we would both pm the organizer and let them know that we are swapping with each other. It's almost like a personal swap, but it would have an organizer, and (I'm guessing) an awesome gallery.

You would have to realize that there is a chance your invitee will not be interested, either because of their current circumstances (too many swaps already, not a good time, or just don't want to do it), but it could end up being lots of fun. If you're like me, there are several people on your "gee, I'd like to swap with them list".

So, what do you think? Should we make a go of it?
472  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Pimp My Switchplate Swap Gallery on: April 05, 2006 01:44:56 PM

473  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Pimp my switchplate swap! (Signups CLOSED; sendout April 10) on: March 07, 2006 07:24:42 AM
Swap name: Pimp my switchplate!
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: rackycoo
Sign-up date range: March 7-18
Date to send item by: April 10

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): No more than 20

Non-U.S. participants allowed? No, sorry. (I'm afraid the plates would be different sizes!)

All ages allowed? Or 18+? All ages

Organizer meets the 4 conditions for swapping and will make sure that every participant meets these conditions: You betcha!

Details of swap: Let's decorate our sad, forgotten switchplates! Each person will let their partner know which size switchplate he/she would like decorated, and what colors or themes you prefer. Then, everyone will decorate a plate according to their partner's desires, and send it on. All you can send your partner is that one decorated plate, so make it beautiful! Think how great the gallery will look with all the plates in their new habitats!

IMPORTANT! Make sure you read the following!!
You must do the following things if you wish to participate:
1. Respond in this thread, so I can send a mass message to everyone if needed.
2. Put "Pimp my switchplate" or "PMS"  Cheesy in every PM you send me about this swap. I will be organizing another swap along side this one, and I don't want to get them confused!
3. Take a picture of the plate you make before you send it out, just in case your partner can't post a photo. (You know you'll want everyone to see your masterpiece!)
4. Do not sign up if you think you will not be able to fulfill the requirements of this swap! NO FLAKING!!
5. If you are a newbie, read the thread on "How to participate in a swap" here: https://www.craftster.org/swapsinfo.html#anchor4
6. Have fun!  Smiley

474  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Switchplate swap on: February 21, 2006 08:10:36 AM
I was just getting ready to pimp out one of my switchplates, and I thought it would be much more fun if someone else did it! How about a swap where you tell your partner what sort of switchplate you want decorated, and the theme and the colors of the room where the switchplate will live. They can go to town with yours, you can go to town with theirs, and everyone will end up with the coolest switchplates ever.

What do you think? Any interest?
475  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Altoid tin theme swap (Signups CLOSED; sendout 2/21) on: February 02, 2006 01:59:04 PM
HERE'S OUR GALLERY!!    https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=80409.from1140183890#new

Swap name: Altoid tin theme swap
Craftster members who are organizing this swap: rackycoo and stifflersmom
Sign-up date range: February 2 to February 9
Date to send item by: February 21

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): no

Non-U.S. participants allowed? yes

All ages allowed? Or 18+? all ages

Organizer meets the 4 conditions for swapping and will make sure that every participant meets these conditions: YES

Details of swap:

Here's the deal. You will be given five theme ideas from your partner. You will choose one of those ideas, and re-con an Altoid tin according to the theme. (If you are unable to find an actual Altoid tin, you may use a substitute, provided you keep the size to anything smaller than 4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm), and not thicker than 1" (3 cm).) They don't have to be square or rectangular, I've seen some cool round tins. After the tin is decorated, you will fill the tin with tiny objects that also relate to the theme.

For example, if your partner chose "red" as a theme, you would decorate the box to reflect "red". It could just be different shades of red, or perhaps pictures of red items (roses, cherries, or firetrucks, etc.). Then, you decorate the interior of the box and fill it with red things...maybe a pair of red earrings, a red purse charm, some red hots...whatever "red" means to you. The catch is that you can only send the decorated tin and whatever fits into it. Nothing else! This will be a quick, fun swap. Also, if you are feeling frisky and you want to do two tins, you may request two partners. It's up to you.

There are some rules, though.
You MUST post in this thread so we can communicate with you easily.
You MUST get a DC number (US only), or it will be noted in your feedback.
You MUST send on time and pm either of us with the DC number, OR communicate with us that you will be late. Do not make us have to ask you whether or not you have shipped. Poor communication will also be noted in your feedback.
Last but not least...NO FLAKING! This is a relatively short turn around time, so make sure you have the time to commit and do a good job for your partner. It the timing doesn't work for you, please sit this one out. Wait for round 2.

476  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Altoid tin theme swap on: January 05, 2006 10:59:05 AM
Signups are posted! https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=77695.0

stifflersmom and I have been batting around an idea for a themed Altoid tin swap. Basically, you and your partner would each give each other a list of possible themes that you would like to receive. Say one of the themes you list is "cupcakes", and your partner chooses that as the theme for your tin. Your partner would then decorate the tin around that theme, and then fill it with cupcake related items. Obviously, they would have to be small cupcake related items. Maybe some fimo cupcake beads, or little gift enclosure cards with cupcake images, or even some birthday candles. Along the lines of the One Tiny Thing swap, you would only be allowed to send the tin and contents, so this would be a quick and relatively inexpensive swap. You could mail in a 5x7 padded envelope, saving on postage as well.

If there is interest, we will probably post for signups in a couple of weeks, as soon as the swaps we are each currently organizing are complete.

What do you think? Sound like fun? Suggestions or changes to the idea?

478  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / A Very Altoid Christmas on: December 22, 2005 11:57:22 AM
Here's a little extra something for my sister, who loves magnets, and my Dad, who never is without Altoids in his car. (Sissy's is on the left; Dad's is on the right. The type on his says "Altoids". I didn't realize until now how blurry these shots are!)

Here are the magnets for my sister. Dad's isn't finished on the inside because he will be using his for the mints!

And don't worry about Mom. I made her lots of stuff, too.  Smiley
479  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Cosmo/Martini Swap! (Signups CLOSED; sendouts 1/10) on: December 09, 2005 05:46:50 PM
There's nothing prettier than an icy cold cosmo in beautiful glass, with a twist of lime. Let's all show our appreciation for all things martini!

Swap name: Cosmo/Martini Swap
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: rackycoo
Sign-up date range: 12/9-12/16
Date to send item by: 1/10/06

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): 16

Non-U.S. participants allowed? yes

All ages allowed? Or 18+? Because this is alcohol related, you must be of legal drinking age to join

Organizer meets the 4 conditions for swapping and will make sure that every participant meets these conditions: YES

Details of swap: Anything related to cosmos or other martinis goes! There is no limit to how much you send, but you MUST send at least one large and two small items. ("Large" and "small" refer more to time spent and the nature of the craft than to actual size.) Important: if you wish to participate, you must also post in this thread. This will be one of my main ways of communication! If you have any worries about fulfilling the requirements of this swap, please don't sign up. We cosmo drinkers want a flake-free swap! Also, be nice to your partner. Send them something you would be happy to receive, and make sure you thank them when you get your martini swap goodies in the mail!

Cheers!

Anyone interested?
