Aurora now has the distinction of being the first of my LVs to get a photo inside the tattoo shop! (Usually I'm not there long enough in one sitting to need a stretch break, but this one was 3 hours so we took a minute, and I remembered to pull her out of her hiding place - tattoo ink is dangerous to a white LV! - for a quick photo.)

Aurora went with me to the VBSPCA for volunteer orientations this weekend, but it's a lot of dirty work (cleaning the kennel and cattery, and walking a very excitable pupper) so there wasn't much opportunity for photos in all the excitement, plus they have a very detailed social media policy that I don't want to mistakenly violate.

But today we're purchasing a lot of books for the library to catch up on some collection development. I guess that's kind of fun.

I just discovered a new park I'd like to go to, right up the road from work... maybe that will be our next little adventure!

I got my pocket letter from noooitaremybirthday!!! And you won't believe it... BOTH of my partners went with the kitties theme! These are modeled after my Gimli kitty  Grin

I think my favorite might be the top middle ("I do not want") but that might be because that's how he's laying right now. The bottom right ("it was hopeless") is him a lot of the time too: pudgy little kitty loaf.

And the back...

Stickers and washi and clips, oh my! Also a little wooden hedgehog fell out when I picked it up; so cute!

And I can't leave this out because it made me smile so much:

The envelope it came in!!! (When I saw it, I said "ooh I have mail!" and my husband joked, how could I be sure it was for me?)

I love it all, thank you so much noooitaremybirthday!!!

Now I've received both... I have to get my butt in gear to finish and send out!

I received, from geekgirl1000100! I got it last night after my volunteer orientation for our local SPCA, which was appropriate because...

KITTIES! (This also helps explain why my cat wanted to sit on it. Or that's just because he's a cat and it's a thing and cats want to sit on all the things.) They're such little cutie pies!

And here's the back! I forgot to take a photo after I pulled out all the bits and pieces but I'll edit and add a photo tonight!

I love it so much, thank you geekgirl1000100!!!

Cairo, Illinois, or Cairo, Egypt?  Grin
Ha ha!  I can't believe you even know about Cairo, IL!  While I have been through there on my way to Kentucky, this time I am headed to Egypt.  I import belly dance costumes and then travel around peddling my wares.  I usually have one buying trip each year, but I didn't want to mention anything until I had firm travel dates.  My mom and her friend are coming, so Anana will be sure to see some of the sights I wouldn't normally go to.

To be fair, I misremembered and thought the American Cairo was Indiana but I looked it up (we librarians are always doing that... hard to shake the habit). I can't wait to see Egypt photos!!!

Meanwhile, Aurora had a fun trip to Mt Trashmore, highest point in Virginia Beach, former landfill turned city park. It's an excellent Pokemon Go hot spot and I have a new year's resolution to hatch an egg every week (it sounds more fun than "walk X km each week").

That's the city seal on the side of the "mountain" (even being from Tidewater, I know it's barely a hill). It faces I-264 so you can see it from the interstate as you're entering Virginia Beach. Also a great kite-flying location.

Eeee so much stuff in my package from rockingbearranch!!! It's amazing how much you can pack into a simple USPS box...

Lots of washi tape, a whole skein of yarn, some mint tins (which I never have enough of because I don't eat any mints that come in tins)...

I was given fair "warning" that there would be several old book pages, which I looooooooove! (They even smell like old books; it's so awesome.) Those things near the bottom that look like little matchbooks are little mini notepads! So cute!

Some pages got kind of buried as I laid this one out but there are lots of planner-type pages and things, which is so my thing. In one of the photos (I think the first one) there's even a roll of washi tape with the days of the week on it <3

More beautiful papers, and magazine pages...

And a few stamped pages (obviously the ampersand one is my favorite  Grin )

Thank you rockingbearranch! I love everything and can't wait to use it all!!!

I was a terrible hostess and completely forgot to take any photos of Aurora during our annual New Year's Eve fondue party!!! I made it up to her today with a SNOW DAY! (Sure, it's a Saturday, but I was on call for work, so it felt like I got out of work anyway!)

We built an Aurora-sized snowman!

Wow Anana has been up to so much! I did a terrible job of documenting our multiple Christmas celebrations (we have FOUR: at home just me and husband and the gifts my mom ships us; my family at my grandparents' house; my dad's house Christmas morning; my in-laws) but I did capture the most important part of the holiday season (to me, anyway): LATKES!

At my in-laws' house, we are casual celebrators of Hanukkah, and we usually fit in a single night of Hanukkah whenever my sister-in-law can be home for it. She's unusually busy this year, so we just made it Christmas dinner this year! Aurora enjoyed watching the process of making latkes (and, even better, eating them!) and hearing the Hanukkah story, all in the same night as opening Christmas presents!

Aurora and I have been so busy (surprisingly, not with Christmas stuff... I had a very stress-free gift choosing/acquiring/wrapping year... which is what happens when half the gifts you give are gift cards and you accept that that's how it's going to be this year) but we did manage to take some photos today! My favorite is probably this one:

My husband got some lotto scratches with his gift at my family's Christmas this evening, so Aurora helped him scratch them. (We even had a winner, I think it was $10?)

You know those trees made of piled books that you see a ton of on the internet this time of year? (Or maybe I just see a ton of them because all my friends and family share them with me since I'm a librarian.) Well, our library built one this year! And decorated it with bookmarks and things.
