I got a new white mailbox with the idea to paint it.  I havent desided for sure what to paint yet  but I need to buy some paint still.  What kind would be the best for this since its going to be outside all the time and its made of a shiney metal that's white.  Im kinda worried about it flaking off.  Any suggestions?  oh and no spray paint because I want to be able to use a brush
6  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Anyone eat hummus? on: January 13, 2007 05:52:27 PM
I just bought another thing of hummus and I was wondering what are some other uses for it?   I usually just use it on veggie sandwiches or dip raw veggies in it.   Anyone eat it other ways?   I usually end up throwin some of it out because I cant think of what to do with it   Huh
7  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Quick & Easy stew soooo good on: January 11, 2007 08:36:12 AM
I just had to come and share this recipe for the best stew in the world since Im waiting for my pot of it to finish cooking.   Grin  Ive been making a pot of it every week for about 2 months....

Cooking Spray
3 carrots, sliced
1 small onion chopped
3 cloves garlic chopped
1 can veggie stock
1 can diced tomatos, drained
1 zucchini, sliced
1 can balck beans, drained and rinsed
1 can great northern beans, drained and pureed
1 cup frozen peas
2 t. oregano
salt & pepper to taste

Spray a large sauce pan with the cooking spray and saute carrots, onions, garlic, and zucchini for about 5 minutes on medium heat.  Stir in stock, tomatos, black beans, great northern beans (pureed), peas, and seasonings.  Heat to boiling.  Then reduce the heat and just cook until the veggies are tender enough for your liking. (browse Craftster while u wait  Cheesy

The original recipe came from 1,001 low-fat vegetarian recipes by Sue Spitler.   But the recipe (Bean Thickened Vegetable Stew)  was a little more complex and had some ingredients that i don't like and things that I usually don't have on hand, so I changed it up.  Its much better this way I think
