231  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Arty Teabag Swap? on: February 26, 2009 05:37:50 AM
I made something yesterday that evolved into a kind of teabag and it gave me a great idea for a swap...teabags!

Anyone up for a teabag papercraft swap? You would make a teabag sized, similarly shaped artwork complete with string and tab. If there was interest they could even be sewn. If you wanted to, as an extra, you could even make a basic little envelope for it too like those individual teabags.

Here's the one I made up...

Your collection could be made into a little book or put into pockets inside a book. You could make a tea box up for them, or display them in a little teacup with the tabs hanging out! The possibilities are endless! Cheesy

So, anyone fancy some tea?

233  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Handicrafts & Needlework on: February 09, 2009 03:22:34 PM
Something bright and whimsical for spring! Inspired by (and on pages from) a book about 18th Century Housekeeping that I picked up recently.

I need to get this framed so that it sits a bit flatter, it's impossible to get a decent photo of it at the moment where the corners aren't blurred! I'm going to frame it so that it's not completely flattened down though since I love the loose look of the pages.

When I spotted the word in the page I knew I had to have her 'underclothing' showing! Wink

Thanks for looking!

Although this swap is 'artists choice', please consider the person you are sending each house to. No ghettos, please!

236  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Three Trees on: December 20, 2008 04:13:56 AM
I've just finished this, it's for my sister. She recently moved into a new house and mentioned she'd like some more artwork from me "in your usual style, to go with the others" Cheesy
This is actually slightly different from those, but has the same border so they will go together.

Close up on the baby one:
The triangle is there because you have to protect those saplings! Wink

You can never have too many trees in your home Cheesy
237  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Amelie's House on: December 19, 2008 08:22:06 AM
I've made this for my sister for Christmas. She gave birth to her baby girl, Amelie in October. I thought it might be nice for her to have somewhere she can put the little things she collects. Lock of hair, teeth, hospital bracelet and whatnot. I've included some details on there, the day she was born etc. She also really wanted some wall art for her room for christmas, so it does both in one. I hope she likes it!

I couldn't decide where to post this, but most of the additions are paper and papercraft seemed the most relevant Cheesy

The little decorated round tin is for teeth, or other small things.
The second little cubbyhole is for little fabrics.

The glass jar behind the door is for a small lock of hair.

And the before...

238  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Completed Projects / USA Scrapbook...my 1st! (many pics) on: December 13, 2008 07:07:18 AM
This is to go with the little nick-nack holiday book I made as I was travelling that's posted here.

This is the first scrapbook-type-book I've made! There's about 25 spreads in total so I'll just post a few of them. Cheesy

It's hard to get hold of good stuff where I live, so I have to make the most of what I can get/make. Most of the nice papers I've used for it I bought in the US whilst I was travelling. The pages were from a kids sketchbook that I watercoloured. Sorry about the glare on the glossy photo's.

Recycled cardboard box cover...

San Francisco. I edited the leaflet so my room photo's fitted in it Cheesy

Death Valley

Las Vegas

Overnight train pocket of information

Empire State Building, NY

Wow, lots of photo's, thanks for looking! I'm excited to take this to show my family in a couple of weeks Grin
239  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Recycled Ale Decorations! on: December 07, 2008 06:47:23 AM
I do love my ale, and particularly the ale from this particular brewery. As an added bonus their labels are always fantastic, and a little bit sparkly. I've wanted to make something with them for a while and I had an idea that they'd look pretty cute up on my tree, so I set to work, and this is how they turned out...

Okay, so technically this one's cider, not ale...

Crazy or inspired? I'll let you decide! Cheesy
240  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Crazy Quilted Christmas Cracker Crowns on: November 18, 2008 03:18:19 AM
Inspired by an idea I had for the Quirky Christmas Swap I've decided to make crackers for all my family this year. These are the crowns that go inside them. They beat the flimsy paper crowns I think! Cheesy

My sewing skills are sadly a bit lacking, but I think that just adds to the charm Wink

I don't have a photo yet, but I just made the crackers themselves out of handmade paper with diamonds cut at each end for easier pulling. Just insert a cracker snap, crown, little giftie and a bad joke and voila!

Now to dig up lots of incredibly groanworthy jokes for inside the rest of them!

EDIT: I've borrowed a photo of some crackers from their recipient, I hope that's okay knickertwist!
