I use a self-threading needle. Makes life easer, and they aren't flimsy or break easily either.

i'm bad at maths, so i use photoshop to figure it out for me.
you can change the resolution of an image to whatever count your aida is, and it will tell you what the size will be.

When it comes time to move carefully remove the nails and smear a tiny bit of white toothpaste in the hole. After it dries you will never see the hole.

Also works if you use a bar of soap and rub it against the wall where the hole is.
