61  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Great book for beginners on: August 10, 2005 12:11:11 AM
So I'm new to the whole book making idea while wondering around my library I ran across a great book called Art and Craft of Handmade Books it's by Shereen La Plantz.
It has tons of cool books I want to start on one right away but it has to wait cause I'm going on vacation. All the directions are really easy to follow. Just thought I'd share if any other beginners are wondering "how do I do that?"
62  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Anyone have a Boxer? on: July 18, 2005 04:24:35 PM
Hello all I have a question for you Boxer owners. I want to modify a human shirt, actually it's a BDU top, to fit my brother and sister-in-law's boxer. Only I live in GA and they live in OH so I can't sneak over an measure the dog. It's going to be a X-mas present if I can figure out how to do it. Could someone who has a boxer send me some measurements? The dog I want to make it for is average size.
63  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Resin and magazine clippings on: July 18, 2005 12:34:47 PM
So I tried to make some very cut Christmas magnets but the type shows through the photo. Heres what I cut out some cute vintage Christmas images, glued them down with a very small amount, then poured the resin in. I there any way I can prevent the type from showing through?
64  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Small collection swap? on: June 16, 2005 09:47:01 PM
So this idea is kind of broad but I know a lot of people out there are more then thrilled when they get a bag of random little things. So I was thinking about a swap where we did just that, make a collection of small items. Example buttons, charms, bottle caps/tabs, tins, boxes, and send them off. Depending on what everyone thinks either the sender could pick what to send say they have a lot of scrapbooking items or the receiver could pick what they would like.
65  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Come one come all on: June 16, 2005 08:41:55 PM
Hello all
I know that this was posted earlier and in the recycle area but I decided to post it again to hopefully inform more people and in turn get more activity. CraftCycle is Up!! Here's the link http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CraftCycle/
A little background this group was fashioned after the ever popular Freecylce groups(thank you to cloudbreakchick for thinking of the idea), only it's craft related. Everything that is to be posted is to be free(or for trade), this isn't a site to sell your items or crafts you make HOWEVER there is a link section on the homepage that we can put your site.
The item doesn't have to be strictly craft related(ex: bead, yarn) it can be for organizing craft items or craft like items(ex: your collection of tictac containers you don't know why you're saving, old license plates, you get the idea).
We currently have 60 members but there's always room for more   Grin I know that if you look there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity in the group but we're hoping that all the members will get ambitious and start cleaning out their crafting boxes soon.
Hope to see you soon!
66  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / New dog bed, from old shirt on: June 09, 2005 02:49:18 PM
So I had an old uniform top and decided that it would be perfect for my puppy because he's such a Rambo doggie, ha yeah not really but here it is.
This is the top I ordered a name tape so his bed is just his. I left the buttons and everything on the bottom so that I can take the cover off when it gets dirty.

And here's the Rambo doggie modeling it for me.
67  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Sewing machine stuck in reverse? on: June 06, 2005 11:28:49 PM
I have a Brother XL-5130 sewing machine and it's stuck in reverse! All I did was switch the stitch I was using and when I switched back it went the wrong way.  Undecided I read over my instruction manual but it didn't tell me anything, any suggestion on how to get it right again?
68  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / glass engraving with a dremel on: May 19, 2005 03:45:20 PM
I recently got a dremel for the main purpose of engraving glass. Well I've been trying it out and it seems to be taking forever. I have my design taped under the glass but when I remove the pattern the engraving looks very sloppy. Any suggestion on what I could do to make it have cleaner edges. Maybe I'm just using the wrong bits? I'm using the one that are labeled engraving. Any help would be much appreciated!
69  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / CD bowl, would it work? on: May 08, 2005 08:45:09 PM
Hey I have all these extra CD's. I keep seeing these wonderful records bowls, do you guys think that this could work with CD's as well or would it just become a gooey mess?
70  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / byebye ugly gold lamp on: April 27, 2005 05:32:25 PM
WooHoo I got it to work!! Sorry this is the first time I got photos to work.
I was given these gold lamps that weren't in the best condition so of course I had to pretty them up. Heres the lamp before:

Here's a close up of one of the dogs:

And the whole thing:

I'm happy with them even though they remind me of something that should be in a little kids room as oposed to a 21 year old apartment.
