1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / My first real project! on: May 28, 2012 09:38:05 AM
So this was my first "real" crochet project and I am super proud of it. This bag is the first project that I have finished since starting to learn how to crochet. Of course I didn't make the little flowers, as that is still a little beyond my skills, but the rest was all me (and a pattern).



And the picture my swap partner took, this shows off the colors of the yarn.


C&C appreciated.

Now.. I am also having a problem. I really want to learn how to crochet those cute little amigurumi but I can not for the life of me figure out the magic circle and crocheting in the round. Any help would be much appreciated!!

What do you guys think of a Victorian/Steampunk/or otherwise themes/unthemed fascinator swap? It could be any type of fascinator, hat, or hair clip. Not sure if it would qualify as small/med/large.
3  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Ren. Faire Cloak Idea ... on: September 29, 2011 10:14:01 PM
So ... our yearly Ren Faire is coming up in Nov-Dec, and this year will be the first year that I dress up. Super excited about that ... not so excited about freezing. I found a wonderful lady on etsy who made my costume .. but I am stumped as to how I should keep warm. I really can't spend 70+ dollars on a cloak and I don't care for the cheaper velvet-ish cloaks out there. While digging through my closet ... I had an idea. I have been on an up-cycling kick lately, from which NOTHING is safe... not even the helpless little snuggie hiding in the closet.  So ... my idea ... modify said snuggie into a cloak.

So my question is .... Do you think it would be too horribly hard for a beginner to modify it into a good looking cloak?

Any advice .. tips ... anything would be most welcome.
