641  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Rat Pattern Needed! Please Help! on: May 01, 2005 02:13:26 PM
I've searched high and low and I can't find one! I tried to free style one and it came out very very crappy. I don't care if it's a little stuffed rat or a pattern that might go on a hat or a scarf. I just want to knit rats!
642  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: obsessed with knitting on: April 27, 2005 09:15:05 AM
I'm addicted too! I wish I could show you all my callouses. I'm going to a knitter's night at the music teacher's house tonight because they want my "secrets." After showing off my stuff they think I'm Superknitter. I knit during class, while fixing dinner, while at work "on a break", I've lost soooo much sleep over the one more row thing only I'm more like "The ball's almost done! I could finish this ball, attach the next one and have a fresh new ball to start in the morning!" My boyfriend refers to knitters as being part of a cult. It's funny.

Yeah, get one of those big punch balloons from the drugstore.

Also, at microrevolt.com they have a program called knitpro which allows you to submit any image and it turns it into a knitting chart in seconds. If you already have adobe acrobat you don't need to install anything Smiley The site is a bit political, but just ignore that.

Those are rad! I've been thinking about doing some 8-bit knitting. I want to do the space invaders scarf, it's up here somewhere.
646  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Undies purse! on: April 13, 2005 08:34:20 PM
TheSupy, those are rad! I have a pair of little girl's undies that say "Thursday" and have a pic of a little tomboy girl riding a skateboard and I'm itching to make them into a purse. I'm also thinkin' about knitting a little corset for a purse, I found a pattern for a woman's corset, but I only have enough yarn for a tiny version (last ball, on sale, had to have it). I'm very fond of this style of acessory. I made a duct tape bikini once that was lined with transformers sheets Smiley
647  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: Swap Organizers, how do you feel? on: April 13, 2005 08:28:42 PM
Okay, about the picture thing. I was really tired when I wrote that so, to elaborate, I meant something like a picture disk. Some film processers can give you a copy of your photos on a cd. Then you can upload them to your computer and post them. And I'm tired now, so I'm probably saying this weird. Smiley sorry, I'm almost always tired!
648  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: Swap Organizers, how do you feel? on: April 12, 2005 12:11:35 PM
Hi! I have never participated in a swap nor have I organized one. I would like to in the future and I just wanted to comment on the karma system. I like the 5 point system, but I also think it should be averaged over the total number of swaps that person has done. You might come across two people with a 5---one who did a spectacular job on one swap, and one that did a crappy job on five. See what I mean? This is the sort of thing that should be listed in everybody's profile:

Total Karma: 25

Total Swaps: 5

Avg Karma: 5

Points 1-5 should be rated as follows:

1 pt for punctuality, 1 pt for effort to please, 1 pt for craftsmanship (was it well made or was it thrown together), 1 pt for creativity (did they make up this cool thing or did they rip it off), and 1 pt for communication. I think the recipient of the package should "anonymously" grade the giver by sending their grades to the organizer, who would then send it to a moderator for posting. I also think the recipient should have the option of giving a bonus point for a really well done job, then it would be easy to identify those that go above and beyond to do a good job. I also don't think it's that hard to get a picture of your work. Some disposable cameras are $2, processing is about $5. That's only $7 to boost someone's confidence in you, and I don't know about everyone else, but I like showing off. Also, most malls have photobooths, 4 pics for $2. They aren't the greatest quality, but they get the job done if you're worried about finishing a whole roll of film and you only want to take a pic of one thing. I guess that's my two cents. I'd really like to see some version of this implemented as I also don't want to be flaked on when I start swapping.
