Those red hat ladies.. it is a Red hat club - for older women and they wear red hats - and purple shirts.  I don't know how to explain it because I don't know much about it.  I am just so self conscious of putting red and purple together because of it -... From what little I know about the group - which is only what I read in a newspaper article - this group started so that older people can get out and do stuff?  The red hat and purple stuf comes from some poem that has a line in it to the extent of I don't care about being older I will still wear a red hat and purple shirt... okay.  that is the gyst of the poem line.  I don't remember it.  Like I said I am sooooo far from knowing much about the group.  Kind of like girl scouts for retired/retiring? women who don't earn badges and they go out to dinner and do activities like going to plays and whatnot.  Beats me.  A friend of mine's mother is getting into it.. she jokingly describes it as a cult.  Very jokingly.  It has made her mom happy and she has met some new friends and gets out of the house more.

It was all red heart super saver.  My sister wanted something washable that didn't get too pilly like the caron one pounder does.
I know that I used the "ocean" color that is the lighter blue one and I am drawing a blank on the name of the purple colors.
She picked out the color scheme and I found the appropriate variegateds to go in it.
The rest is black. Lots of black.

I had started one for myself but I was kind of repulsed by the colors I picked so I put it down.  I got about a third of the way out - which probably sounds like a lot but it was only a few days worth of work - gets longer and longer each time around and all. I would post a pic of it since i haven't frogged it yet but it is FAR too disgusting in my opinion.

I am due to make another blanket for us here.
I will take some pics of the train blanket I made for my 4 year old.  He loves it.
I have yet to make one for my 2 1/2 year old.  It will be in either dinosaurs or animals.  He loves living or was living things - my 4 year old is a train fanatic.

yup.  I thought it gave her dress just a little more pizazz.  I didn't care so much for the plain dcs going about so the popcorns were my next idea in that process.
I didn't care much for a filet pattern either on it... too many holes.

You know maybe I should put it on over to Crochet me.
I tried to go through the regular routes of trying to make money off the pattern - annies, leisure arts, etc but with no bites whatsoever.  I love the aliens.  I think they are adorable.  I had plans to make about a dozen different styles of them and several spaceships as well.
I keep threatening that I will go and self publish but I like crochet me a lot.  If they want them, I would be willing to have them put them up.  I could use the pat on the back.

I designed a slew of stars for ornaments(nearly 100 but after weeding out the ones that I think were crap, I got about 50 good ones.. then there were my faves... about two dozen.. you know how it goes!)
And I designed a bunch of other ornaments... I was a designing fool last year.  I need to pick up the creativity again.  I have lost my mojo I think.  I haven't even picked up a hook in a good week and a half.  I am starting to feel like I lost an appendage.

It is an old Coats and Clark pattern.. called crochet dog.  Creative naming back in the day.
I do have the original of this.
The dog is fantastic.
I did sell one at a craft show a few weeks ago.. as a matter of fact that and my own pattern of an octipus baby rattle was ALL that I sold.
I apparantly wasn't in the right place for my craft.  There was a little old lady selling stuff for half of what I was pricing at and her stuff was all cheap stuff - acryllic potholders and worsted weight yarn baby booties and whatnot.
I don't think she sold much either though.
I won't be going back there again!  I am going to a more upscale neighborhood next time.
I think people would be more willing to buy better quality things if they dont' shop exclusively at Walmart. Not that Walmart is a bad place and all.  We have one up the road that is sooooo nice for a walmart.
Drop me a line sometime.

awww. make me blush!
Here are a few more I did.
I love making stuffed stuff.
The dogs were made with homespun lion brand - I am starting to sound like an advertisement for lion brand here-
The bears were made with rr ss.
It was a patons pattern. I had to adjust the muzzle size since it was just massive. .. and the ears I had to downsize as well but all in all I really like that bear pattern.  I am going to make some up with the homespun as well.  I love the homespun for stuffed animals.  It makes them soooooo soft!

This one I finished about this time last year.  It was a bear to do.. lots of color changes and in parts it was just oddly written.
It took far too long to complete but I loved it.  It was on the cover of the Award Winning Afghans booklet I bought a few years ago.  It was shown hanging on a wall behind a piano and I envisioned hanging it above my staircase but I have no clue how to hang something that big, round and made of yarn.  I will make one for myself someday.

5998  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / lion brand jamie doll on: March 26, 2005 04:47:31 AM
Here are a few of the lion brand Jamie dolls I made.
The pattern was a freebie I have no idea how long ago.  It was also published in a magazine that I had gotten at a second hand store.
It was suppose to have been made with lion brand jamie- hence the ever so creative name they came up with for her... but I used rh ss... I also adjusted the hair and had to design some clothes for her.  Shown is just 3 of the dresses I designed.  I will be working on designing more dolls to go into the clothes I designed so I can have a completely my own doll again!
5999  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / slinky angel on: March 26, 2005 04:19:57 AM
Here is another oddity I made.. a slinky doll.

I also made a ragdoll and a bear as well.  I have no idea why I did this.  Looking back I must not have been in a right frame of mind.  My creativity went just a little off....

6000  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / my crochet aliens on: March 26, 2005 04:13:24 AM
Here are some aliens I designed last year.  They get a lot of eyebrows and laughs when people see them.

Of couse nobody wanted to publish them though.. I won't give up!
I have no idea how many designs I have done already.  I am going to take some time after my next craft show and finish getting them copywritten.

Next time I make more I am planning on using that obnoxious bright lime green.  At the time this was the only shade I had in a green other than hunters.

I also designed a working spaceship for the aliens to ride in.
It has a door like a moat draw bridge.
