1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / yo-yo crochet on: January 14, 2012 03:02:43 PM
Hey all! It has been a long while since I was last on. Medical issues kept me from crafting my little heart out, but things are looking up, and I am starting to crochet more!

I was wondering if some of you might be able to lend a helping hand.

I have been eyeing a design for some time, but can't afford to purchase this pattern book (darn medical bills) to help me with an idea I have been toying with. Now I am not asking anyone to purchase anything for me, etc...I just needed help with this technique that I can't seem to find anywhere on the inter-web.

This technique is yo-yos. I was considering trying something new with my scrap yarn in order to create something completely different than what you normally see.

I have found some techniques that require a person to make tons of yoyos, and then stitch them all together...but I have heard that one can make yo-yos in one piece to save time.

Is there anyone that can share where I can find out how to do this? It's much appreciated!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / HELP! on: October 17, 2011 05:31:53 PM
I was recently gifted with an heirloom basket with an unfinished project my late Oma (German for Grandmother) had started while she was sick and in Chemo. I hope to take her unfinished project with her knitting needles and put them in a memento shadow box in memory of her.

My question that I pose to my fellow knitters and crocheters:

Also inside of this basket that I received of my Oma's was a large ball of magenta mohair fingering yarn. I wanted to make a little memento with this yarn for all of the women in my family, but I am not sure of what to make. I only have a limited amount of yarn, and 7 women to make mementos for.

Can anyone think of something that would be just as special as the person who passed it down to me?

Thank you all for your help!

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Teal Mug Cozy on: August 03, 2011 04:25:29 AM
I have been wanting a mug cozy for a little while, and found a few patterns that were ok, but not exactly what I wanted...so I can up with this little number. It fits a basic 3.5" diameter mug (most of the mass-produced kind) and covers the mug completely, even the bottom!

I only made 2 of these.

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Honeymoon Shawl on: July 31, 2011 11:24:27 AM
Just finished a teal shawl for my honeymoon coming up in less than a month. We plan on going on a cruse for a couple of days to the Bahamas, and I needed something for a breezy evening on the water.

I made this shawl using Berroco Comfort in Dutch Teal and the Half Moon Shawl pattern from Caron's website.

Wow! It has been a while since anyone has posted anything.

Was wondering if there were any people out there looking to network and start up a stitch n bitch group.
