1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: little something for male friend(even though i have a boyfriend) on: February 03, 2007 10:09:34 PM
any ideas on presenting tickets

Well, for Christmas, I got my boyfriend two DVDs he had been clamoring about for a really long time. But since I felt that they were sentimentally empty, I bought him tickets to go see "Jazz and Art" (his two favorite things), a concert at Lincoln Center (NYC).

I took a spare DVD case, and put the tickets where the slip of paper that usually comes with a DVD would go. I printed out a fake DVD with the Jazz at Lincoln Center logo as the art, and Photoshopped the DVD case art, printed it out, and slipped in under the plastic sleeve.

The back of the DVD case art was a write up of the program that I found on the Lincoln Center website, and a picture of a trumpet, a stand-up bass, and two pieces of artwork mentioned in the write up. The cover was a Picasso of a band playing music, and underneath it, it said "Jazz & Art".

It worked out wonderfully. I made sure he opened it after the two actual DVDs, and he was really surprised.

Something like that might work for you. Good luck!

Wow. You were really lucky to find such a book! The nicest book I've found so far is "Ajji Baba and... something" from 1945. It's light brown with pink arabic flower designs on it.

Haha, I saw a picture of Kid Rock wearing a shirt made of those once on the cover of Rolling Stone. Needless to say, your bag looks much cooler.

Hey did you hot glue the sides together or what?Huh??

Yes, I hot-glued the sides onto the book after I had hot-glued the lining onto the inside. It was my first real project so I just went crazy with the hot glue. I didn't know what else to use.

Help! Everytime I click on http://phone.victoryatsea.org I'm told it doesn't exist. I'm dying to make one of those cool book bags, but I'm the kind of person who needs instructions on how to do the whole thing. Any help here?

Yeah I checked that website too, and I guess it's gone offline? I'm not sure where else one might be able to find directions for such a project. If I find any, I'll let you know.
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Vitamin Water Table - Now With Pictures on: November 25, 2004 09:12:51 PM
Anyone familiar with Vitamin Water?

Well. I bought a crate from Costco (much cheaper) and after having drunk it all, I washed and dried the bottles. With at least nineteen bottles clean, I then assembled them in a nice little pentagonal shape. I then found a lovely and conveniently sized piece of round, flat plastic in my garage. So I glued all the bottles to it. And then I had a table. And this is how it came out (the pictures really don't do it too much justice):

Has anyone ever though(or created) a book clutch with tulle? (Tulle:read: the meshy stuff taht ballerina tutu's are made of.) Cause Iw ant to have it peeking out of the top of my clutch. Any tips or ideas will be appreciated. Thnx in advance!! *huggles*

Well what I'd probably do is sew the tulle onto the very tippy top of the back of the lining that I was going to use. Kind of like...
...but kind of softly pleat it so that it has that ruffly thing going on. If you know what I mean. And then proceed as usual.

PS Holy cow, sorry this is four months late, but I haven't been on this website in... well... more than four months. Sorry  Undecided
