1  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Foomin - Needle felted Katamari doll on: July 28, 2011 10:04:42 AM

This is Foomin, my favourite of the Prince's many cousins from the Katamari series of video games. She's my first completed needle felting project, although I did start two others in between starting and finishing this one. She's not very photogenic, (Or maybe I'm just bad at taking photos. Sorry for all the blurryness!) but she was a lot of fun to make and I feel like I've learned a lot from making her. The hardest part was by far the teensy details, with actually finding the right colour of wool roving coming in at a close second. The only store I know that sells it unfortunately has a very limited selection. :c Either way, I am pretty pleased with the final result.

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Crocheted bottle holder on: July 18, 2011 11:57:27 AM
Hello craftster! This is my first post here, although I have been an on-and-off lurker for several years. This is also the first crocheted thing I have ever made. I am trying to challenge myself to learn new things right now, so a couple of days ago I started looking up videos of crochet stitches on the internet and decided to try and make something. I wanted to make a bottle holder, because I've seen them around quite a bit lately, most recently sold at a festival I went to, and I thought they were nifty. I couldn't be bothered to find a specific pattern for it, so I used this pattern: http://purlbee.squarespace.com/crocheted-linen-grocery-tote/ and guesstimated some changes to it (that I'm not even entirely sure were necessary. Oh well.), and when I was done I added a little bow of scrap fabric. Can't post pictures here yet, so I'll just link to them.
