1  Stuffed Owl in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by PrincessPickles on: July 16, 2011 02:46:47 PM
This is an owl doll I made.  He's more for display than for touching.  I got the inspiration to make him from what I used as his eyes.  I found those in a box of shinies and thought they looked like owl eyes.  I spent I long time deciding what to use to make the rest of him.  Eventually I found a piece of red felt to use to make his body.  Then I found beads to glue to his body to give him owl colors.  His little beak is just an orange gem.  Everything is hot glued to his felt body.

His back is covered with chicken feathers from our own chickens. And some of the beads are different because I ran out of the beads I was using on his front.

The base of him is just the glass insert from an old jar lid.  I didn't really have any other base to put him on at the time and I wanted to give him legs but couldn't figure out what to use.

Comments and criticism welcome!

2  Pacman Hat in Crochet: Completed Projects by PrincessPickles on: July 15, 2011 07:31:23 AM
I made this over the winter.  It's the first hat I ever made without a preexisting pattern.  It was relatively easy to make the pacman shape then the dots were even more simple (even though they didn't turn out perfect).

And then here's a terrible picture of me modeling the hat.   Embarrassed

3  Crocheted Necklaces in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by PrincessPickles on: July 12, 2011 02:41:19 PM
These are some crocheted necklaces I made as gifts for people.  I didn't use a pattern, I basically winged it.

Any suggestions for more? Also suggestions for types of clasps to use would be very helpful! The ones I used worked alright, but they were hard to fasten.

4  Tea Can Decorations in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by PrincessPickles on: July 12, 2011 10:26:59 AM
I wanted to make something out of the neat tea cans I was drinking from. So I made two wind decorations out of them.  I used a big circular hole punch for the hanging circles and a little hole punch for the holes to hang the big circles.  I used wire to connect the pieces, added some beads, and ta da!

I'm in college so I go through a lot of notebooks for my classes, so I used notebook wire on this one instead of throwing out the wire.  I also covered the sharp edges on the top piece with a little bit of fabric.

And finally, I made some can flowers to spiff up planters around the house.  Once again, I reused notebook wiring for the flowers and I just used old beads I had laying around for the center of the flowers.
