1  Re: A Bite to Eat! in CHALLENGE 14 ENTRIES by hercuteness on: August 11, 2007 04:05:26 PM
once again, i want to thank everyone who has commented on this project over the months.

i am still getting inquiries from people who come across it here on craftster.

recently i did ANOTHER miniature fast food meal for a photo contest on another site and i thought it was only fair to share it with you.

it doesn't have the same impact that the burger does, i know, but i made it from cornish game hens and i baked the mini biscuits myself.

thanks for looking everyone!

2  THANK GOD it's over! Here's what I did. . . (complete w/ photos) in Winter Holidays by hercuteness on: December 29, 2006 03:15:48 PM
So, last year I knitted EVERYTHING that I gave my family for Christmas. . .this year I thought I would be smart, start early, paint a few things.  You know. . .simple.

It didn't work out that way. . .but everyone loved what I gave them and I  was fairly happy with the results:

A tree topper for my stepmother, who is German.  She collects them.

First set of magnets:

Second set of magnets:

First set of necklaces:

Second set of Necklaces:

Three sets of keychains with matching letter openers:

A pair of traditional ornaments:

A pair of ornaments for my father.  This is me with my grandmother. . .she died this year:

A pendant for my mother-in-law.  This is HER mother. . .who also died this year:

CU of one of the long pendants:

A breast cancer ribbon ornament for my sister-in-law. . .who always runs the S.G. Komen race in Houston every year:

There were a few others that I didn't get shots of. . .next year I'm not sure what I'll do!  (BIG thanks to the gals at Nomadic Notions here in Austin. . .who wrapped and assembled all the necklaces and taught me how to black a silver chain.)

Thanks for looking, kids.

i got my second package from the lovely catpants (and isn't THAT a fun name to say out loud) which i was not expecting today and which also made me SUPER happy.

my good camera is at home.  pardon the departmental camera.

inside the box was this gorgeous assortment of items for the home.  which will look fabulous in my first real home!

what you see are two lavender soaps (that made the box smell divine), handspun/handdyed yarn, a sweet throw pillow with very kanzashi-like flowers sewn on, two itty bitty embroidered wall hangings (eek, too cute!), a set of cute-as-a-button cards, a felted flower bobby pin (which i will wear until the flower falls off, trust me) and a handknit dishcloth.

whew!  i'm tired just TYPING all that.  and she did SUCH a great job with the sewing and embroidery.  i'm truly impressed.

and, is it  my imagination or does the yarn still smell like kool aid?  i'm not sure, but now i'm hungry.  and i have to find a pattern for it asap.

*this* little suzy homemaker is definitely set up in style.

oh, and the Karl For President sticker has found a home on my INBOX at work.

so here are some pics of the second package i sent to catpants.

i knitted a grocery tote (never did that before) and made her a fridge caddy out of a McCormick pepper tin.

pics tomorrow as soon as i can.  i'm so happy you liked everything!

(so, here are the pics of my cross stitch and felt cake box.

like a total goober and a VERY unprofessional photographer i have deleted the pics i took of the stuff i sent catpants, so i hope she can post pics.)

and, i would like to add that catpants sent me possibly the best cross-stitch thingy EV-AR. accompanied by a super cute, sweet-as-can-be felt cake BOX, which will house something appropriate in the near future.

7  I'm on the HUNT, I"m after THESE in Beads: Discussion and Questions by hercuteness on: August 28, 2006 09:17:00 AM
i'm desperately, and i mean DESPERATELY, trying to find plain white (or very light) flat ceramic beads and pendants . . .something like this:

looks like a guitar pick, huh?

all the porcelain and ceramic beads that i can find are already painted or they are too small. . .. any suggestions?

i would make them from polymer clay myself, but i need them to be glazed and fired and oven-friendly.

8  Re: Share your Mess...Then let's clean it up! in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by hercuteness on: August 22, 2006 01:50:40 PM
i think that i win.  i OFFICIALLY have the cleanest craft room.

it's a shot of my new house!  if all goes well by the end of the week i'll be crafting HERE instead of on my dining room table in my crappy apartment!

FOUR bedrooms. . .and that means i get at least ONE all for my crafting!  before long i can be the proud owner of a messy craft room!

so the deadline is the 15th for the Knitty 2007 calendar contest.

i submitted my marley's ghost scarf.  and it was so much fun to photograph something i made on models. . .all professional-like.

i definitely reccommend that everyone who has the time sumbit a project for this:

here's one of my photos (you can submit three):

it's a plate. . .sort of.  i told miss kristen that it could be used as a cheese plate or a candle tray.  it could be a trivet, or just something pretty to put things on.  it's got felt on the back, but the surface is durable and can be washed.

it really is hard to take pictures of flat shiny things.
