31  Re: Quick Plush Monster Swap GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by cloudsnapper on: August 01, 2011 06:25:06 PM
Everyone's monsters are so cool! I like how everyone made them so different off a simple pattern.
I'd like to introduce my meow-velous un-monster Leslie sent me in our private swap:

So cute! His paw pads are so cute and perfect!
She was also generous with extras. She sent me a cute cupcake pouch to keep my business cards in, and a bag of assorted buttons Cheesy How did she know I collect buttons?
Great swap!

32  Rainbow Sherbet Mittens in Knitting: Completed Projects by cloudsnapper on: July 31, 2011 06:30:42 PM

I just finished some really cool looking mittens. I'm not bragging, it's the yarn that makes them look that good.
I used the mitten making guidelines from knitty. Those are very good if you want to make some yourself.
Here's a picture of them worn.

I'm going to give them to my sister for Christmas. I hope she likes them!

33  Rose and pearls necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by cloudsnapper on: July 25, 2011 07:49:14 AM
I made a necklace for someone on a swap organized over on Livejournal. I wanted to make her a pretty, elegant necklace with wired pearls and a resin rose

(The rose is on-center. It just looks weird in the photo.) It's 2-stranded, so that the longer strand elegantly drapes on the neck.
There was a problem because I accidentally ordered the resin rose from someone on Etsy in China. Also, the picture on the sales page looked like it was on a pendant already. It took forever to come in, and I made my partner wait.
But I hope she likes it! What do you think?

34  Lolita wrist cuffs in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by cloudsnapper on: July 17, 2011 02:14:34 PM
I made some lolita wrist cuffs this morning to go with my ice cream dress. I didn't have anything red to go with it, and I wanted to make some matchy cuffs because it's short sleeved.

I like them, but they're not as full and ruffly as they should be, maybe. They're cute anyways, and they went with my outfit when I went to see Harry Potter today.

It was funny when I was making them, my husband asked me what I was making, and I told him. He thought I was making some kind of bondage cuffs! Polka dotted with lace would look funny for bondage gear!

35  Woods doll quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by cloudsnapper on: July 14, 2011 08:09:11 PM
I made my first quilt a little while ago. I'd bought some wood-themed fabric from ebay, and wanted to use them.

I embroidered a leaf on every other square. Seemed like a good idea at the start... But it turned out great after some work. For the leaf pattern, I took pictures of real leaves and traced them in a vector image program. Then I traced the print-outs with a water-soluble pen.

Here's the back, where you can see the quilting. I just free-handed it.

I'm very happy with the quilt. If I would do anything different, I would use a different fabric for the binding. The yellow wood grain stands out too much. Not as much as it looks in the photos, but more than ideal.

36  First lampwork beads in Glass Crafts: Completed Projects by cloudsnapper on: June 28, 2011 07:36:57 PM
I just took a class to make lampwork beads at Asheville Glass Center. It was supposed to be an 6-hour, 2-day course, but it ended up being a 2-hour course. It was really fun, but we just got to learn the basics like putting glass on the mandrel and adding dots. I made them in the same color scheme so I can make a bracelet or necklace.

I'm looking forward to doing more glasswork! How long did it take you before you felt you had some control over the glass? Right now I couldn't do it by myself, the heat scares me, and I don't think I could be confident enough to work with it while being careful at the same time.
