1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Seed stitch border help on: September 24, 2007 03:11:37 PM
Hi all.  I have a question about a pattern I am starting and was wondering if anyone would be able to help me figure it out.  It is the free pattern for a cabled bag at www.patonsyarn.com.  I'm not having trouble with the cabling, but I don't see how the pattern will produce a seed stitch on the edges.  I followed the pattern for the first repeat and it didn't seem to be coming out like it looks in the pics for the edging.  It seems like the bag is knit in one piece and folded in half, but as far as I can tell it doesn't say anything about including stitches for the border.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / yarn overs? on: July 17, 2007 06:03:42 PM
Hi all!  I have started trying to learn how to knit lace but I have a newbie question....If the pattern calls for a yarnover, when I get to the yarnover in the next row do I slip it or knit it?  I tried slipping, but I can't tell that it's making any difference in the pattern of my lace.  It  just looks like an almost normal, slightly wonky spot.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first F.O. on Craftster! sari silk Unbiased on: July 03, 2007 05:13:16 PM
Hi everyone!  I finished this a while back and thought I would post pics.   I made this using mango moon recycled sari silk and the knitty.com pattern unbiased.  I love the colors!  My crappy cam could really only get one side clearly, but there is such variation in the thread that if you turn it over it looks like completely different yarn.  I am planning to frog this bag as I have an issue with it not staying shut.  I put in a snap, but it just puckers in different places instead of the middle.  *sigh*  Let me know what you think!

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Silver Leaf Satchel on: July 03, 2007 09:04:05 AM
Omg.....I must make this bag. http://www.tinkknit.com/Silver%20Leaf%20Satchel.html  (I may have botched that link...oopsies)
It's sooooo different.  And gorgeous! Has anyone else made it?  I'd love to hear your experiences.  If no one has made the bag has anyone ever silver or gold leafed felt?  I am curious as to what this takes and if the leafing stays on pretty well.  I would hate to go to the trouble and then ruin the bag just by bumping against something.  Perhaps if anyone else is interested we could do an awesome bag of coolness knitalong?
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / first timer socks on: June 28, 2007 07:11:32 PM
I have been knitting for a while and think I am ready to try knitting socks.  Can anyone recommend a good pattern for a first-timer?  i would prefer something without color changes and lace since I think I will have my hands full enough with the basics. Smiley

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / grafting...er...mishap on: May 30, 2007 07:14:02 PM
So then....I grafted my first live stitches together the other day on the Knitty Unbiased bag I made.  And I was quite impressed with my first time antics..... till I realized that I had twisted the strap.  Is there anyway to undo the stitches without ruining the strap?  I am concerned because the recycled silk yarn is pretty wild and I'm not sure how to begin frogging a graft much less do it and manage to not lose the original stitches.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.
