221  Re: Quilt Block Swap Round 3 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by kbrison on: February 20, 2013 12:13:19 PM
All blocks are 12 1/2" square but may look ragged because of the way they're hanging on my design wall. Honest! Undecided

I don't know why I lost the yellow wonky block.

223  Re: Sweat Shoppe Swap Round 30 (signups until Jan 7, Send by Feb 4) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by kbrison on: December 27, 2012 05:50:36 PM
Ok, folks, I'm ready to post my projects:

Earflap hats (Starting at top left and going clockwise): #1-red hat with white accents; #2-black hat with bands of teal and rainbow colors; #3-white hat with pink accents; #4-lavendar, pink, and light yellow hat; #5-black and gold hat

Owl stuffies (left to right):#1-know, #2-dream, #3-live, #4-peace, #5-hope. These are based on Lynn Krawczyk's wishing owls pattern. They shouldn't be given to children under the age of 3 because of the beads. They're palm-size and are very squishable. Cheesy The front pocket can hold a photo, a slip of paper, a tooth for the tooth fairy, etc.

224  Re: OTT Winter Holiday Edition 1 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by kbrison on: December 23, 2012 04:42:41 PM
I kept forgetting to upload my photo to this swap. Sorry, Thimbles71!
Anyway, Thimbles sent me this really sweet angel amigurumi that she crocheted using her own design. I've been crocheting for a long time, but I wouldn't have tackled something this detailed based on my own design. I'm delighted that she's braver than I am. By the way, the angel's name is Angelique (in memory of my French grandmother).

225  Re: Stuff a Small Flat Rate Box for Winter Holidays Gallery in The Swap Gallery by kbrison on: December 11, 2012 09:10:31 PM
I received my package from AuntieKar at the perfect time. It arrived yesterday evening and I wore part of it today to fit into my school's 'dress for Christmas' theme day. First a group shot of the candy: The divinity lasted approximately 30 seconds after this photo was taken and the chocolate letter 'K' didn't last much longer. Yum!
Next the papercrafting supplies:

Perfect amounts of ribbon and paper for my crafts as well as two sets of clear cling stamps. I knew I bought those acrylic stamp blocks for a reason! It's going to be so much fun to use these!
Then a shot of the practical stuff (Well, kinda of!!!):

I wore the Santa socks today and my students and fellow faculty thought they were hilarious. Will be using the Santa sticky notes a lot, too. The peppermint bath scrub smells good enough to eat and Santa's stocking cap hair clips are probably going to be adorning my great-niece's hair very soon.
Next the decorative items:

The gingerbread ornament will go on my tree and the jelly clings of Santa are already on my classroom window.
And the best for last:

A charm bracelet AuntieKar made to fit my broad hand. Haven't decided which charm I like best, but the reindeer and the HOHOHO are running neck and neck. Since another Okie, Gene Autry, made the song Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer famous, I have some loyalty to the critters (also saw 6-8 of Rudolph's cousins on my way to work this morning and another pair on my way home, so it's definitely getting to be the season!) Happy holidays, everyone! Thanks, AuntieKar!

226  Re: SECRET SANTA SWAP 2012 GALLERY!!!!! in The Swap Gallery by kbrison on: December 09, 2012 03:59:28 PM
Opened my gifts from my Secret Santa last night after I got home from the Christmas bazaar where I exhibit, but was too tired to fight with my camera's download features so I could post photos. A good night's sleep, a morning of Christmas music at church, a lunch I didn't have to cook, and now I'm ready to tackle the worst my camera can throw at me (I am woman; hear me roar . . . and all that kind of stuff!).

Adrienne-bowers was my Secret Santa. Look at the awesome stuff she sent me. First the wrapped group shot:

Love that snowman paper. Now for the unwrapped goodness group photo. Ta-da!

On to smaller group shots.

A cupcake potholder with cupcake mix and a jar of apple butter. Like I'm not already having will power issues! I lose all control during the holiday season.

A hedgehog amigurumi who insists his name is Hedgewig and a knitting kit with a cute little skein of yarn for a tiny fall leaf. I love hedgehogs. I wonder if I could borrow two of his quills to use as knitting needles? I'll have to ask him nicely.

Hedgewig (I can already tell he's a curious sort of fellow) checking out this massive hank of handspun yarn. It's hard to describe the color. Imagine a deep forest green blended with a matte black. It's gorgeous no matter what color label you place on it, plus it's s-o-o-o soft and fluffy. Just feels luscious! Will have to find a very special design to use it on, maybe a lacy shawl. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank (Have I said that a thousand times yet? If not, imagine that I have) you.

227  Re: Crocheters VS Knitters Swap 2012 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by kbrison on: November 24, 2012 10:01:02 PM
"I've received" is such a calm-to-the-point-of-boredom way to describe the package I received from jtlhmmwabodf. As I tore into the packing envelope, these amazingly teensy, tiny balls of fluff tumbled all around me. Bunnies! Six of them, each less than an inch in length, hopped out of the bag to cavort and play. It was love and laughter at first sight! (Unfortunately one of the bunnies must be camera shy because it disappeared before I could take its photo. I think it must be hiding with the dust bunnies under my hall furniture.)

Next I found the most wonderful cable-knit purse in the package. Notice that even the handles are cables. I'm just amazed by the skill involved! She even included a care tag, so I'll know how to wash it later.

And then I pulled this fabulous, woolen cowl from the package. I love the colors and, again, my favorite knit pattern - - cables. I'm not posting an action shot because I want everyone to be able to see the details of the cowl. jtlhmmwabodf did such a beautifully professional job on everything she sent me and she pulled them all from my pinterest board of 'Things I like but can't make'. Think I'm going to have to rename it 'Things I love'

Evidently the purse and cowl photos are too large to upload. New camera so I'll have to re-post as soon as I figure out how to make them smaller. Sorry for the delay.

228  Re: Stuff a Small Box for Halloween Rnd 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by kbrison on: October 20, 2012 05:13:18 AM
Have just spent the last few hours playing with my new camera, my picture software, and my laptop. Think I've finally gotten the bugs worked out, so here goes: my awesome swaps fron RaraAvis! First, a group shot of the Jack-o-Lantern/vampire bat bunting that she made for my classroom, 4 tiny but incredibly detailed handcarved stamps, and a felted owl based upon my Pinterest boards.

Next, a close-up of the amazing witchy owl that RaraAvis created. Esmeralda is sitting on the shelf behind my laptop keeping an eye on everything I do and making sure our onery cat, Cassa Nova, doesn't try any of his shenanigans on her. (For those of you too young to know, Esmeralda was Samantha's wacky, but often wise, aunt on the old TV series Bewitched. Since Esmeralda was played by actress, Alice Ghostley, a native of my hometown, I thought it befitting to share her character's name with my owl.
Don't you just love her expression? And her broom and hand-stitched tulle hat? RaraAvis also included a variety of chocolate candies as well as some black licorice strings, but unfortunately they didn't make it into the photos. Someone spirited those things away before I could photograph them. I need to ask Esmeralda if she saw who-o-o-o the culprit was.

229  Re: TTT Hippy Swap (Three Tiny Things) Gallery of Tiny Hippy Gorgeousness! in The Swap Gallery by kbrison on: September 01, 2012 06:27:19 PM
Talk about being spoiled - I got this awesome package from Hawkeyes_girl yesterday.

Hawkeyes_girl made this gorgeous macrame necklace, a color coordinated journal, and a double-channeled neck cooler for the hundred degree plus temperatures in my state. She also included a beautiful embellished card that I want to frame that explains the gifts.

Poppy soap, lavender scented soap, and citrus scented lip balm that smells good enough to eat! I may never want to leave the bath!

Hawkeyes_girl has been a great swapper but I'm glad she can't count to three! Smiley
