211  Re: Sweat Shoppe Swap Round 31 (signups end 5/27, Send by June 24) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by kbrison on: May 27, 2013 08:32:21 PM
This is an example of the ruffled tote bags I'm offering.(Ignore the other items. This was part of the MYB Swap that I sent to Hayleylujah.) I'll contact you after our wishlists are final to let you choose from my fabrics. Sorry, but I'm out of that particular fabric.

212  Quick ruffled scarf in Crochet: Completed Projects by kbrison on: May 19, 2013 12:09:37 PM
This is the scarf I made for my DD#1 using Red Heart Boutique Sashay yarn in the Conga colorway.
This shows the scarf doubled over.
Am going to make more for the Sweat Shoppe Swap.

I've decided to offer 6 ruffled scarves and 3 ruffled tote bags. Photo is of DD#1 wearing her scarf doubled over. Will post photos as soon as I figure out why craftster photo insert isn't cooperating.

Yarn choices, left to right: Rumba (navy to light blue), Blue, Malachite (metallic green), Purple, Golden (also very metallic although it doesn't look it in the photo) The final yarn will probably be a pink or red.

214  Re: Fill-A-Box Lucky 13 - US Only GALLERY (MAIL BY 4/27/13) in The Swap Gallery by kbrison on: May 16, 2013 03:50:07 PM
Finally getting photos posted of the great supplies Eclectic Dreamer sent me. Sorry for the delay (end of school craziness, then surgery. Finally getting back on track).
First, a shot of all the loot.

Then, all the fabric, felt, and netting.

Next, the papercrafting goodies.

The yarn and sewing supplies.

And, finally, the miscellaneous craft supplies.

I needed new blades for my Exacto knives, so that was a very welcome surprise. I've been wanting to try felting, so that roving is going to be fun, too. I love all the blue and green buttons, but my favorite supplies of all are the bag of fabric scraps (for a crumbs quilt I'm making) and the plastic pieces from milk jug handles. They're hard to find, but so useful! I use them to crease paper when I'm making cards and to press seams open when I don't want to use my iron. This has been a great swap!

215  Re: MYB Round 16 Gallery!!! in The Swap Gallery by kbrison on: May 16, 2013 03:01:28 PM
Sorry it's taken me so long to post the great MYB photos of Hayleylujah's swap with me. End of school craziness and then surgery have frazzled my brain.
I was so excited to receive that I forgot to get a before photo, but here are the unwrapped goodies.

The yarn is a really lovely shade of light green, although it appears more blue in this photo. I used this same yarn in a swap last year and fell in love with it. Now I can indulge myself and make something for me! Hayley included a pattern book that I'm going to use as my starting point.

Purchased items: a giant mug and teas which my elder daughter appropriated, owl embellishments for scrapbooking and cardmaking, origami kit, a dog stamp, and fingernail file and polish.

And lastly, the crafted items: a tiny bunny, a cabled cowl, a hoopla of flowers, an Irish shamrock pin, and homemade alcohol inks. I love cables and wear cowls a lot in the winter, I'm part Irish so of course the pin is going to get a lot of use, but my favorite of all is the alcohol inks. Can't wait to try them out!

Thank you so much, Hayleylujah!

216  Re: One Little Pincushion swap gallery in The Swap Gallery by kbrison on: May 16, 2013 02:18:34 PM
Third times the charm. Wasn't paying attention, so posted the photo in the discussion thread. Then I realized what I had done, so began posting to the gallery board. Then Windows decided to do an update and closed out my post just as I was about to hit the post button. If this post gets knocked off too, I'm just going to give up. Hate technology that screws around with what I'm trying to accomplish!

Anyway, this is the great cathedral windows pincushion that Dollface made for me. Love it!!!

Postscript: Received a message that this post had timed out and to try again. Aargh!

I've spent most of this week at school or in a doctor's office, so just realized that I haven't yet posted photos of my wonderous poppet from Isikkahjai. So without further ado, I give you (drumroll or trumpets sounding) . . . Keiki.

You can't tell from my crudy photos, but her sheath dress and obi fabrics have touches of gold paint and her tiny fingers are all bendable independent of one another. I can't imagine how Isi made her fingers so tiny and thin. They're amazing! And I love the orchid she's holding. And the jeweled decoration in her hair. And all the time she must have spent stitching down Keiki's hairdo. I counted at least 21 pieces just to make the body! It would take me forever to make a poppet like this (and I've been sewing for decades). Great work, Isi! Thank you for gifting me with one of your creations!

Isi also included cherry blossom and glittery, fancy script stickers.

Love the MAQ that Thimbles71 made for me! Check out all the tiny, wonky houses, the teensy bead doorknobs, and the multitude of green fabrics she used for the hill. I started laughing the moment I unwrapped it enough to see the first house and haven't stopped smiling since then. I love miniature villages, as she knew from our previously having been swap partners, and blues and greens are some of my most favored colors. The actual colors are a little more intense than they appear in this photo. The MAQ is temporarily hanging from the den curtains, so the sunlight bleached out some of the color. Thanks again, Rita, for a fan-tabulous MAQ!

219  Re: Givers & Needers Round 11 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by kbrison on: February 23, 2013 08:58:02 PM
Forgot to post pictures of my thank you gifts from SheepBlue and Ninaprettyballerina. Photo posting seems to be one of my weak points since I bought a new camera with a different systems program than the one I was using. Better photos but more of a headache to process the shots.

First the handcarved stamps from SheepBlue. Love them all, but the 'awesome' will probably make its way to school with me. I think my students will really enjoy seeing it stamped on their best papers, and the way they're mounted makes them very easy to use.

Next, a group shot of my thank you gifts from Ninaprettyballerina.

A close-up of the money note pad, bracelet, necklace, koala clip-on, and vintage napkin pouch. I love kangaroos and koalas, so the clip-on is perfect! The vintage pouch is much too nice to use as a pencil pouch, but I may make it my traveling crochet hook carrier. Really much too nice to use it for that, too.

And lastly, a close-up of one of the crocheted motifs on the scarf. Actual colors of the yarn are much closer to that of the first group photo. Don't think I have the determination to make and join that many motifs!

Thank you again, SheepBlue and Ninaprettyballerina, for the great thank you gifts!

Finally took photos so I can post a finished project: purple crocheted hats for a children's charity. Each year the crochet group I belong to chooses several charities to support. The kids' hats are our first quarter project. The purple hats are part of a "Stop Child Abuse" program.
