1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitty's Bell Curve yarn sub on: January 24, 2008 01:07:42 PM
So I just saw that Knitty's winter surprises were up, and I love Bell Curve: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter07/PATTbellcurve.html

BUT the yarn they used is ridiculously expensive! So does anyone have a good replacement idea for Artfibers Zoe? It should be something with some stretch but that can hold its shape.

I love both of them! Definitely have to try the first one. I would still love a tut for the second one, if you get a chance  Smiley

Thanks Sera_Angel for all the cute stuff, and for posting pics! I really love everything. The shirt fits perfectly, you didn't have to worry at all. The stationary really does look professional, did you print it on your printer or do you have like a goco? Anyways its beautiful, here are some action pics as promised:

The shirt is so cute, and it fits!

So I ended up going with the microspun anyways. It was the best choice at Michael's. Unfortunately, when I went to buy the yarn today, I discovered the LYS up here at school went out of business  Sad So I'll see how it goes.

yeah, I'll definitely say that I get hot very easily and I live in the muggy, sweaty swamp that is Washington DC, so take my comment about microspun with a grain of salt...

Lol my home is also in the DC area, but since I'm here at Vassar for the summer, I can tell you that the only thing worse than DC humidity is the DC level humidity in the Hudson Valley combined with no airconditioning. Moving makes me sweat.

I also did it in black microspun.  the stitch definition isn't as good as the lighter colors, but that doesn't bother me.  frankly, what does bother me is that since it's an acrylic yarn, it's kinda hot, even though it's a lighter weight yarn.

That's too bad, I really want it to be light weight. Does anyone know of still cheap alternatives that aren't as hot?

So cute! I think it would look cute with a stencil. In fact, at first glance I thought the tree branch going across the top WAS a stencil, and that it looked nice. I think something like that, off centered and pattern-ish would be cool if you were to do it.
