These are the gifts I've been making for my friend's kids birthday presents this year. I found some great boyish fabric at the charity shop so hopefully these will be appreciated by 9 year old boys!

24  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Waterproof insulated reef bag on: August 17, 2011 02:28:08 PM
Living in tropical far north Queensland here in Australia we are lucky enough to have the Great Barrier Reef right on our doorstep!  Our family often goes out for the day to snorkel and so I thought I'd custom make a bag to take out on the boat trip.

I used an old inflatable pool sunlounger for the waterproof outside, and old silvercar windscreen shades for the insulation. Then I lined it with nylon ripstop!
We took it out last weekend on the boat - and it was perfect!  Our drinks stayed cool and it was roomy enough for all our gear!

25  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Times tables pockets on: August 09, 2011 03:51:27 PM
My girls are currently learning their times tables - and I wanted to make it more fun for them - so here's what I came up with..

Sets of memory card games for each times table - they love playing them, and they're learning while they play!! The pockets mean the games are easy to find it's hanging in our main living area so always noticable!

I did a tutorial too:

26  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Doris on: August 03, 2011 02:36:47 PM
Usually I make up my patterns as I along - but this time I followed directions from a book to try something different!

27  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Dressing gown with link to tutorial on: July 27, 2011 02:29:24 PM
To cope with the cool mornings in winter here in Australia, I've made my 2 daughter's dressing gowns.

I've now added a tutorial here:

28  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Ruffle top with sparkles! on: July 26, 2011 12:14:07 AM
I've been looking in my drawer at this top I made a couple of months ago.  I love it - refashioned from an old singlet of my husband's, and an old dress of my daughter's.  I added the sparkle strip at both sides - but I don't know if the sparkles are too much!!??
(Sorry the picture's not great - tricky to take one of myself!)

Personally - I love anything that sparkles!  My 2 daughters (aged 6 and Cool adore it - but can you be too old for sparkly bits on your top??

Here's the link showing what I made it from:
29  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Personalised drinks holders on: July 25, 2011 07:08:45 PM
A friend at my daughter's school asked me to make one of these for her - so when she was out with lots of kids around she could easily identify her daughter's drink!

They're just a basic rectangle with velcro and embellishments, small enough to slip in your handbag to take out - and adjustable to fit any size of cup or bottle!

I made a nice simple tutorial so people can make their own!  I'm a firm believer that anyone can sew - and try to find projects for fun, simple and useful things anyone can try!

My daughters love theirs - but my youngest insists on wearing hers as a wristband or anklet when she goes to dancing!!!

Here's the link if anyone's interested in the tutorial!
30  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Handibag made from a pillowcse on: July 20, 2011 02:29:08 PM
It's always useful to have a big bag tucked in your handbag when you're out - for unexpected shopping, or perhaps all that lovely artwork your kids present you with when you pick them up from Kindy or Preschool!
This one is made from a pillowcase - so  nice and easy!
And all the better for being recycled!  I'm sure everyone has an old pillowcase they never use!!

It's part of a series I'm doing for simple sewing projects anyone can do in 5 steps and 15 minutes!
