1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knit Picks' Dawn sweater on: November 24, 2013 04:57:14 PM
I fell in love with Knit Picks' Dawn pattern (http://www.knitpicks.com/patterns/Dawn_Child_Sweater___D11507220.html)  and knew I had to make it for my monkey. I did the size 6 pattern (she's a size 5T-6) and it fits pretty well. She has a little room to grow but sadly, it won't make it to next winter. Oh well, different color next time.

The pattern called for Knit Picks' Andes del Campo, but sadly my daughter inherited my wool allergy. So I used their worsted weight acrylic yarn in "fairytale." It's a really simple pattern and only took about 7 days to knit! You can't see the eyelet detail very well with her purple shirt underneath but it's there. Smiley

Hmmmm February you say? I think I might come out of seclusion for this!  Grin
3  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: About to get started for the first time ever on: November 24, 2010 07:29:09 AM

Where I am, stainless steel will stain, rust, pit, discolour, and even peel. I would NOT trust what passes for stainless steel here for anything to do with soaping. Ever. I don't even want to use it for cooking, but we don't have much in the way of healthier options, but that's a longer story.

Yeah, then that's not stainless steel.

I would be curious what you use over there for your soapmaking needs. In China we got great stainless steel, but sounds like Sri Lanka is different. Do you use plastic, then?

This seriously makes me smile. Today started off crummy, but now I'll smile remembering the giant beetle on the dollhouse roof!  Cheesy

Love it.

(as a side note, you bear more than a passing resemblance to Kelly Macdonald!)
6  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: CP/HP Soap Swap! SIGN-UPS CLOSED! 03/25/10 - 04/07/10 (Send out 05/12/10) on: May 19, 2010 06:59:59 PM
Okay, I have updated everything (thus far) and gone through my PMs. It looks like Twistedbeader and I are the only ones who have not sent. I saw many people received, I need to go through and mark it all down and I'll update this thread.

To make up for my tardiness I opened my packages and included a third bar of soap. (It's an unscented shampoo bar, nothing as amazing smelling as some I've received!)

I have received all five of my packages and I gotta say, my bathroom smells D-I-V-I-N-E. I keep trying to figure out my favorite, but am unable to, they all smell so darn good. Smiley

Thank you all, again, for being so awesome!

Hey all, I am alive but not so well. I cannot apologize enough for, essentially, going completely AWOL on this swap. As MareMare said, I do have pneumonia and am not a happy camper right now. My daughter had pink eye and a sinus infection, and DH has a sinus infection as well.

I'm on my way to the doctor, AGAIN, but I have received everyone's PMs and will update the thread this evening accordingly.

My husband is going to go to the post office for me tomorrow to mail my soap, since none of us have really left the house since Friday night (other than to go to the hospital). I am SO sorry you guys.

Will be back this evening to update and elaborate. All I can say is the sincerest thank you for you all being the most amazing swap group and being so understanding. It's not every day the plague settles on your house, right?

*** UPDATE ***
Hey guys, I think I'm going to move the send out date to the 15th, which is Saturday, rather than Wednesday the 12th. I've received a couple PMs from folks asking to mail on Friday or Saturday which is totally fine. Works better for me, too. All I can say is work sucks! Grin
9  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: Homemade Laundry Soap ** With Tute! ** (picture heavy) on: April 27, 2010 07:51:48 PM
I made this a few weeks ago and I love it! My husband did the eye roll, but then he did the math of how much money I saved us and then I got the hug. =)

I used the exact ingredients in the tute and didn't add any fragrance, my clothe come out smelling like clean water so it's a big win. My skin is also loving the fact that their are no extra perfumes.

Great Tute and actually a lot of fun to make. I feel all proud of myself that I made it too. My mom actually stole half my bucket of soap to use herself!

Huzzah! Glad it worked out for you, and your mom! Cheesy

Smittenheart... you're dead to me. How does that cone of shame feel?? Grin

Actually, they look amazingly beautiful! And I dig anything you do with papaya! The blue one is my favorite. Smiley
