1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / make a fabric dress-up crown on: September 28, 2007 02:48:33 PM

I made a crown similar to for  my daughters. However, when C's (my oldest daughter) great friend from preschool invited her to her birthday party I asked C if she would like me to make one for her friend too. She said yes. The first one I made for the girls was a bit small for C so I decided to make it bigger. The second one fit me - I think I will keep it around for me. Wink This is the one that C will give to B for her birthday.

I used a crown from Burger King as my basic pattern. The beautiful green silk is from a dress of mine. I used felt for the lining. The first two had pink felt which was very pretty and contrasted nicely with the green but I ran out. Sad

I always buy fancy lace left-overs when I find them in the bargain bin - it comes in handy. Smiley

Since I am a bit obsessive about making sure the things I make are durable, I used sewable gems rather than iron on or glue on gems.

These are intended as stocking stuffers for Christmas.

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Kid's Craft: Make an Unstenciled/Collaged Name Tag on: August 24, 2007 04:25:41 AM
My Mom used to have me do something similar to this except we didn't use stencils, she had me cut out the silhouettes of various things to use for my collages. I don't remember what kind of silhouettes they were. Probably horses. However, the girls aren't too handy with scissors (K is too little anyhow).

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Flowered Hair Wreaths (Think Fairy or Ren Faire) that Won't Fall Apart! on: August 18, 2007 06:50:18 AM
I got sick of stupid wreaths falling apart and decided to make some for my girls that would last. This is the first one I made.

I made three more like it. One for my littlest one and two for the daughters of a friend in England.

Then I started adding bells. I made one for a different friend and six for my daughter's preschool teacher.

I've made two more to give to my girls at my oldest daughter's birthday. The first ones didn't have bells and I thought they might like tinkly ones. The original ones still look great (I made them at the beginning of January).

I also made a jingle bracelet.

6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Flowered Hair Wreaths (Think Fairy or Ren Faire) that Won't Fall Apart! on: August 17, 2007 02:26:51 PM
I moved this to the proper forum thread I must have had my head in the sand yesterday. Thanks for the comments and the notice. Melissa
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / husband's cargo shorts into tote (six exterior pockets!) on: August 03, 2007 01:42:44 PM
It took me a bit to figure out how to make the lining work as I wanted so after making friends with my seam ripper more than once - it is a bit rough looking and so I over-compensated and it is a tad bit ugly - next time will be better. Smiley

8  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Hanky Angels on: July 30, 2007 03:13:02 PM
I came up with these angels in February when my MIL and I started planning the big Christmas party. These are some that I made for her party.

These are some angels I made from hankies from my  maternal grandmother (who while not dead, is in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's).

I helped my Mom make these two - these are hankies from my grandma and grandpa - she wanted special ones for herself.

Here is a tutorial for them: http://crafts.suite101.com/article.cfm/hanky_angels

9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / two multi-media collages - featuring a clipboard and a rearview mirror on: July 30, 2007 02:42:11 PM
Sort of describes how I feel about the whole idea that we evolved.

This one is based on a Steve Taylor song with the obvious title "Drive He Said" (yeah that is one of my old driver's licenses).

10  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / all white button bouquet on: July 17, 2007 12:44:03 PM
I made this as a party gift for the 2007 family Christmas party. I thought all white would be nice as I have no idea who will get this.
