1  Custom Diaper Bags? in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by cawfeehowse on: May 07, 2008 08:48:11 PM
I found a diaper bag that I absolutely love but I don't like any of the fabrics it's available in (I was hoping for brown polka dots).  I can't sew well enough to make this on my own so I'm hoping one of you ladies might know of a place, an Etsy shop, etc where I can show them the pictures of the bag but get to pick out the fabric?  Any ideas?  Here's the bag by the way:

For more on the bag:

So sorry if this isn't posted in the right area.  It's the only place that seemed logical to me. Smiley

2  Door Hangers in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by cawfeehowse on: February 03, 2008 06:17:29 PM
I've been a craftin' fool lately for babies (my hubby and I are in our 4th month of trying and I just can't help myself). If we have a girl we're planning on a froggie theme and if it's a boy an airplane theme.  So I went to the craft store and saw those unfinished wood door hangers as well these painted little wooden pieces.  I bought some craft paint and this is what I came up with.

P.S. Sorry for the icky photos.  I had to use my camera phone.
P.P.S. The bottom picture is pre-new doors.

3  Re: Diaper Wipes Case in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by cawfeehowse on: February 03, 2008 02:59:27 PM
I made my own version last night.  I've been seeing these cute little diaper wipe cases all over the web.  I loved the idea, but I didn't have any fabric to use. What I did have was self-adhesive shelf liner that I bought for other nursery crafts. I cut the liner to fit the lid, the sides and the back, peeled off the backing and stuck it to case. My only suggestion is to take any stickers or labels off the case before you put the liner on. Here are my pictures I hope you enjoy them!

4  Baby Blanket Bag in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by cawfeehowse on: January 15, 2008 07:15:32 PM
My BFF, Kara, is expecting her first and I want to make her something great.  Her and her husband are very outdoors-y and I can totally see her baby spending a lot of time out in the grass.  I saw these AWESOME bags online and I'm just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how I can make one!  Thanks in advance!

5  My NY Office in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by cawfeehowse on: August 01, 2007 09:19:51 PM
Hello Everyone.

I'm originally from NY but now I live in MI with my hubby.  I get homesick a lot so we decided to make me a NY themed office with lots of NY prints, etc.  We've done a lot of work in the office so far.  We've painted the walls a pretty green color.  My husband made me a big 'L' shaped desk so that I can finally be able to be on the computer and have room to write (I'm left handed so it's always a problem).  Together he and I made and upholstered a storage ottoman that serves as a window seat for our fur babies as well as fabric storage.  Anywho... here are some pictures and thanks for looking!

7  Re: Love your wedding? Then show off your photos here! in Weddings and Bridal Showers by cawfeehowse on: July 01, 2007 03:44:28 AM
I got married in November of 2006.  I went a little overboard with the crafty-ness but it all turned out great.  Everyone commented on the little touches that we added to our wedding and I was pretty proud of what I had accomplished.  Here are some pics:

Here we are with our lovely bridal party. And check out the flower girl basket.  I crafted that.

No crafts in this one but I am in love with this picture of my new hubby and I

Here is the back of my dress.  I loved all of the beading.

Seeing myself in all of my bridal wear for the first time.

This is another favorite from during our ceremony.

I designed, printed and made all of our wedding invitations (with the help of some unsuspecting friends!).  I bought the purple folder from cardsandpockets.com and the printed all of the cards to fit in the pocket as well as the invitation card.  Behind it is a mat of fuschia.  They came out really great and we have gotten a TON of complements on them.

Oh the flower pens my bridesmaids helped with at my bachelorette party.  Yes.  We crafted.

For our cocktail hour I had made I-don't-know-how-many cootie catchers for people to play with.  I also made word searches and crossword puzzles about us and our wedding.  I had ordered personalized pencils from Oriental Trading Company in our wedding colors as well.

Here are our placecards.  It's just a plain business card with a piece of pink or purple cardstock behind it.

We bought a fun little corner stamp to hold the business card in place.  We used wine corks to hold the cards up since we had a French wine-ish theme.

This is our reception room before the guests got there.  Lots of purple and pink.  I made all of the centerpieces as well.  They are beta fish vases with a tall tumbler in the middle and then I filled around the tumbler with wine corks.  I used light and dark purple roses and pink tulips.  There are also curly willow branches with tiny pearls painfully glued onto them.  I looked so pretty with all of the candles lit.

Where we actually got married.  My mother made the white arbor for us and then we decorated it with a candelabra that I found on E-bay.  I made the aisle runner out of white fabric and then we layed flowers all the way down both sides of it.

My mother also made the white planter boxes and then we put a coffee can with play sand, stuck a shepards hook with a pretty lantern and battery operated votives (I didn't want my dress to go on fire).  We covered up the can and sand with moss and somemore rose petals.

This is the top of my cake.  It was so pretty and yummy too!

As we walked down the aisle at the end of the ceremony our guests blew bubbles.

Our programs were just cardstock for the cover with a copy of one of our engagement pictures on the front with photo corners and the whole thing tied together with constrasting ribbon.

Ok... That's a lot of pictures - Sorry.  But it you wanted to see anymore we have an online wedding album at http://www.barkel.net/wedding/weddingalbum/

8  Re: Want to make a dog bed, any suggestions? in Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions by cawfeehowse on: March 19, 2007 06:38:25 PM
Today I made my new doggie Molly (see below) a doggie pillow out of a towel and an old pillow.  I just found a nice towel (I used a beach towel) and wrapped it around the pillow.  I'll sew it later but it will do for now.  I'm planning on sewing up the sides and the bottom seam but for the top I'll use velcro so that it easily slips off if it needs to be washed.  She loves that pillow already and I am comforted knowing she's happy when I'm not here!

9  Bottle Hanging Lights? in Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions by cawfeehowse on: September 24, 2006 02:39:26 PM
Hi Everyone!

I was in a cute cafe today and it had the neatest hanging light fixtures.  They were made out of Perrier bottles!  I'd really like to make one or two for my new kitchen.  The closest picture I can find is this:
or this:

Any ideas on how to make this myself?

Ooh!  Sorry!

This is the cootie catchers that I made:

and when its folded it'll looks like this:

It's like a fortune teller thing.  You spell out something and move the catcher... It's hard to explain.  Maybe the instructions will help:

Wedding Fortune Teller

How to Play:

Pick a Name or Date
Open and Close the fortune teller once for each letter
Pick a word on the inside flap and Count again
Pick one Last Time & Open that Flap
Read the Fortune & Fulfillnyour Destiny
