11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Burda Style Naomi Jacket - help? on: March 12, 2009 07:14:30 PM
I actually went back to it tonight and realized that I had sewn the facing onto the wrong sides of my front pieces.  But thanks for your reply Smiley
12  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Burda Style Naomi Jacket - help? on: March 09, 2009 05:48:01 PM
I was just wondering if anyone has made this before.  I am finding the instructions very difficult!  I think I have the jacket front and back facings attached, and now I'm step 4- princess seams and pocket openings and am completely stuck!

If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it.  Thanks Smiley

I did get a lot of my stuff on etsy.  Some of it is vintage, and some of it is new but made from vintage tooling (like the octopus).  Etsy rocks!

Thanks Smiley

I forgot to add, the cat is actually a premade cameo, which I believe is resin, and I then attached it to the setting and put it on a chain.  I think I got the cameo on etsy.

Thanks for all of the comments!  Smiley

The little bird is resin, but sadly I have yet to try making my own resin pendants.  I think I bought it at Michaels(?).

Everything else I bought online.  The octopus is metal, you can get the octopus in lots of different finishes.  The one on the necklace I made is gunmetal, but they usually come in brass.  You can add your own finish or patina to the brass ones. Smiley

18  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Cheapest/Easiest Last min gift ever-Chocolate Toffee Pieces; "Christmas Crack!" on: December 23, 2008 05:36:14 AM
I make this all the time!  I call it "Crack Up."  Its really easy to make vegan too, you can just substitute the butter for some Earth Balance spread.

20  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: ANOTHER metal purse frame bag on: November 20, 2008 06:09:19 PM
I used the tutorial here: http://u-handbag.typepad.com/uhandblog/2006/12/purse_frames_de.html, to make my bags.  It isn't too hard to use the frames, its mostly making sure that you measure everything really carefully so the bag fits into the frame.  Once you sew one, it gets a lot easier, especially if you use the same pattern. Smiley

Right now, I get my frames at a local store in Toronto, called "The Workroom."

And the length of the metal frame is 20 centimeters, and it is about 17 centimeters tall.

Also, I'm still using the fabri-tac glue, and it seems to be working pretty well.
